Another one that makes me happy! And it was fun to do, too. I decided to do iced chai to throw some variety into my series--there may be another couple of iced teas on the way...But since iced chai lattes are such a hip thing I made my tea girl a fashionable hijabi shopping on a summer afternoon. I really love images of fashionable hijabis on Tumblr--their outfits are so classy and flowy. The lighting and color was strongly influenced by the work of the amazing Pascal Campion !

Anyway, chai tea originates from India (where there is a substantial Muslim population, which was part of the inspiration for this drawing) and is actually a mix of black tea (like Assam with milk, sugar or honey, and spices like cardamom, cinnamon and cloves. I have tried the traditional chai a few times before--it is very spicy and fragrant with cinnamon; a great tea for winter. However, in recent years, chai has become more popular in the west as creamy lattes and cappucinos--these are very milky and sweet. I personally prefer iced chai lattes. They may be less authentic but they are so refreshing and creamy!
