Description we all strive to protect the ones we love...

For some reason, recently, I've been thinking about having a child of my own (haha, I need help in that department, since I can't just make a baby by myself). But more so, I think I actually want to adopt a kid sometime later in my life.

This picture shows how great paternal love is... I hope I'll be a good father one day.

To appreciate the feeling in this picture and the moving rain, full view please!

maybe it's because i do have a baby. but this shot struck nice and deep where all good works of art should it's a beautiful picture, well done on capturing it if it's candid or staging it if it wasn't

Thank you and I'm glad you liked it. I was simply lucky to catch them in the rain. It's definitely one of my most favorite pics in my own gallery.

^_^. what was your inspiration for this piece? Or was it more a spurr of the moment type photo? I really think this is a great work. I wouldn't have it any other way.

This was simply a lucky catch with some careful color adjustments to bring out the rain. It's hard to catch such emotions from posed models...

WOW. This image is soooo powerfully emotional I can barely comment on it. I really love the look of determination in the father's expression - even though his eyes carry warmth, you can tell he will stop at nothing to protect his child. The rain in the picture adds so much to your theme - parents will always be there no matter what happens. This is DD worthy - and a must !!

You know... I really like your vector art! I wish you can teach me how to do something like that!

Kunoichi-Usagi In reply to lingk99 [2005-05-19 01:49:15 +0000 UTC]

Aww thanks! I've had a few others ask me about the process of vectoring something, so I've decided to do a tutorial on it. I'll probably do a more simpler one with animation style first, and then another on realistic portraits. If you want I can note you when I post it.

NoirFeu In reply to NoirFeu [2005-05-18 20:26:08 +0000 UTC]

Hmm.. thanks for explanation.
Now I see your point, it was a good choice to make it darker in this way..
But monitor's settings are horrible to me.. I never can set them properly _-_
Either way - the concept is wonderful

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

lingk99 In reply to NoirFeu [2005-05-18 20:13:48 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Though, I specifically made it darker, to make the world seem harsher and the father more protective. Darker colors also bring out the rain more in this picture. I did try to make it bright... and it didn't work that well. However, a lot of it may be our monitor calibration too. My monitor may have a higher brightness/contrast setting than yours.

I worked on this photo very little yesterday... I had a friend over and then had to go through a ton of deviant messages. Phew... these things are really hard to keep up. I dread the 2 weeks that I'll be gone in July.

Wonderful shot, great feeling.
I would slightly increase the contrast and perhaps dodge the fathers face to bring it out more.
Really nice.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lingk99 In reply to ntora [2005-05-18 18:17:01 +0000 UTC]

Ok, I'll try that a little bit. I did find this to be the best contrast though... since any higher and I started to lose definition in the father's hair and cloth (I really like to keep it navy blue). I will dodge the face to see how that works. Currently, there is a good contrast in the faces between the father and the child. I think most of my picture is focused on the child and the father's body protecting the child. That's why I cropped more of the father's head away.

This is, well, beautiful. Theres nothing quite like held by your Mum or Dad. Is this candid or slightly candid? both ways its brilliant. either because of the capture or by the direction. well if this picture is anything to go on (not knowing anything else about you) I'd say you've got the makings of a great father!
