Nation: Alkirian Sky Kingdom
Class: Monitor
Role: Flying Fortress, Ship of the Line, Area Defense
Unique Features: Reinforced airship lining, over-abundant amount of cruiser-caliber gun batteries

The Alkirian Sky Kingdom lies to the north of the Central Authority, and controls a vast, mountainous region rich in natural metals. Due to a lack of spacious bodies of water, as well as having natural floating rocks and mountains in their country, their airships tend to look more like massive blimps that can gently touch down on flat fields or be moored side-by-side with a docking station.

What makes this ship unique is the reinforced blimp lining that is attached to the upper portion of the airship. It is a tough yet durable material slightly less comparable to the thick steel sides of most other modern airships, but it makes up for that perceived weakness by the overabundance of cruiser guns mounted on its sides. The ship mounts an impressive array of 8-inch cruiser guns and can deliver devastating broadside attacks against anything short of a battleship.

Also pictured are two Beaufort heavy fighters escorting the monitor-class airship (the Alkirians also use Beaufighters for their primary interceptor). Due to the frigid temperatures, Alkirian planes all use twin-engine designs, especially in cases of engine failures due to freezing, which gives them remarkable power in the skies of their country.

Hehe thanks, BrotherOstavia does a great job just making these from scratch! Most of my nations are based near large bodies of water but the Alkirians here are in the high mountains (think like the alps), so they have to use a more traditional design due to a lack of water for landing their ships or any runways for that matter. So with that thinking, a zepplin-style ship that continues to 'fly' even when its engines are off seemed the best course of action for their design.

cool, i have platforms for a similar purpose, becasue the world i designed is earth but with significant sea level rise and desertification, so its all oceans be it oceans of sand o water, so the ships are of three main types of design, contious flight design, which either remain at high altitude or use land anchors as they are lighter than air(zepplin type), the water bourne type, capable of becomeing a sea going vessel(saves fuel) and flying wing design(fastest although has lower practicality due to its need to keep moving, much like a shark)

I see this, and think that it's totally awesome, but can't help but remember why zeppelins never became widely used as long range bombers/gun platforms.

Hehe, it's not super flamable and also the lining for the blimp (being this is a fiction world) is close to as strong as steel, so it's not such a huge problem for them ^^
