Conceptual drawing of an Imperial Battleship-class airship by ~kakapoopie . All credit goes to him for coming up with this conceptual design.The ICA Traflagar is the primary flagship of the Imperial Central Authority in my book I'm working on, the primary enemies of the Arcadian Republic.
Currently it is the command ship of Army Group South as the empire attempts to wipe out the Republic ally of Elysium (a paladin-descended nation). The story is set in a mix of World War 2 mixed with high fantasy (so magic co-exists with tanks and battleships, but no lasers or robots!).
Ship design based heavily off the famous 'Yamato' battleship, though uses a very unique skeletal frame design to make the ship lighter than she looks and thus more capable of airborne flight. The ship is armed with 3 'quad' 18-inch turrets, rivaling the firepower of almost all but the Republic's heaviest ships of the line.
In this drawing, the Traflagar is fighting off an allied airstrike before she can join her accompanying fleet, the intent of the plan to prevent or at least slow the arrival of such a heavily armed warship in an upcoming battle.

But just curious: is the spelling deviation from "Trafalgar" intentional or is this a misspelling?

Intentional, as this world is 'not Earth' so it has a deliberate off-spelling to invoke the original name for the reader, but in this world it is its own unique place.

The only question I have is, why don't the planes just attack from below where the ship doesn't appear to have an angle of fire?

Being this is not in space, the reason is because torpedoes, rockets, and bombs deviate significantly when attacking from below (as opposed to attacking from above where gravity won't pull the weapon off course too much or stall out from such a steep climb).

Looking at this while trying to find ideas for aerial battleships in my universe has just taken my thinking to a whole new level!! WOW! I LOVE the way this looks! From what it looks like here, I'd be intensely interested in the story you're working on!

Its kinda how the Bizmark sank. only it got jumped by two allied ships instead of an air attack and later on it was sunk by a torpedo boat. Awsome ship

Heh thanks, check the rest of my gallery for ships being drawn in my world. Once the basics are down, I plan to have a battlescene drawn together to show what combat is like for the readers of my story ^^

to bad the yamato's AA canonns didint help much agaist its enemy aircraft the traflagar seems to be having more succes atleast they hit a coupe of plains but i dont see wy the main cannons are fireing since such firepower is unessesery against small flying objects such as planes prehaps the traflagar is fireing aganst somthing else

I like this concept, both as a picture and what I could visualize from your description of your world. I look forward to seeing this published on a shelf somewhere so I can read about mages blowing up tanks

Aww wow thanks, I really hope to get it published as it's something you don't see much in stores.. WW2 fighting with magic/technology. Tons of those Dungeon and Dragons or Modern or Sci-fi settings out there.
