Description I learned today that a staple of my childhood passed away at the young age of 69.  While I knew not his real name as a kid, Mr Harold Ramis still infused all of what made the character of Egon Spengler with everything that was awesome in being a scientist that devotes himself to making the world a better place.

Boy.. did my folks know how much I loved the Ghostbusters movie.  I once wanted to be a scientist thanks to that man's character.  Dang, I made hydrogen in the bathroom sink!  But life being as it is, I'm nowhere near that little goal I once set myself to.

Only yesterday Egon was explaining how the Slime Blower MK][ was adapted to the main Proton Pack.  I had no idea that his voice would now be extinct.

Mr. Spengler is up there with Indiana Jones and Captain Jean Luc Picard as some male models that I admired for many things during my youth.

My condolences go to his family, friends and fellow fans.  He will not be forgotten.

Those little drawings were made recently as part of an exercise.. I colored one of them just now because a hero deserves that much.  I only wish it was more.
Godspeed, Mr Ramis. *Salute*

It's a shame he had to die.

Same with John Lennon and George harrison.

These men lost their lives after precious few years of entertaining and inspiring us, bless them for that.

Really nice work... He was a childhood hero of mine as well, I still remember I was picking my girlfriend up at Memorial University of Newfoundland when I heard on the radio that he'd passed. It was raining.

Awesome drawing!  Personally, it baffled me to no end that they make the character a blond in the animated series. But, there you are.

I think that was Ninja Turtle syndrome because obviously kids are so brain dead they can't tell one character from another.

I really liked Harold Ramis as Egon Spengler.
I also enjoyed some movies directed by Ramis such as 'Groundhog Day' (starring Bill Murray, another Ghostbuster!) and 'Year One'.

Passing away at such a young age is sad news, indeed.

Rest in peace, Mr. Ramis.

A touching and fitting tribute.

I too loved Ramis' take on the scientist, who showed that you can be nerdy but still cool.

Time to bust out the DVD and watch it again.

A little bit of my childhood died with the passing of Harold. I remember watching Ghostbusters, Caddyshack and Groundhog Day over and over again when I was young and I still do. Any death of a comedian is a tragedy and Ramis always saw comedy coinciding with tragedy.

I just hope that he's a ghost and he's slumming it at Bill Murray's house forever.

Caddyshack had great humor that I Remember to this day.. Groundhog day was so great in terms of a 'what if' movie that was so brilliant that it deserved all of the praise towards it.  Ghostbusters hit me harder than the previous two.

My childhood got shocked as well by this news
