Description Lord Wellington Wales, renown explorer.

This was done as a painting practice to see where I could go with a particular technique. I still have to rough out some edges there and who knows.. I might actually do it right one day.

This one looked a lot better than I thought it would.

I hope you guys like

hm... I could try, but it would ask for time.. taking a picture would be more efficient.

However you hit the nail dead on, he's from a Steampunk universe. If you look at my main DA page, you see the first image of him right there Holding his awesome gun and stuff ^^

I did do research of the steampunk genre/phenomenon. The styles and ways of thinking as well as the influences of the 2 aformentioned authors were quite enticing.

It's something I definitely thought I could get behind and I really enjoyed making stuff up in that pocket universe

How the year 2000 was viewed in the 1850's-early 1900's.

While it's not steampunk in anyway, the most realistic space combat and spaceship for that end was the Gunstar in 'The Last Starfighter' But it's fun to imagine things that, while impossible, have an element of technical truth behind it.

I love doing those things.
Same for many technologies in Star Trek, no one suspected that devices like that would ever exist in less than a generation (portable data modules, flip-phones.. that sorta stuff)

well.. most advances have been developped for the army thanks to the funds it receives. If research and efficiency didnt have to go through a monetary budget but an actual ressource budgets, not only would we get longer-lasting items but also the best possible at the time.. instead of having to re-buy items with the same basic use but newer and sliiiightly more advanced than the previous.

They day we don't spend so much for awesome technology to destroy each other but to cure and benefit humanity will be the day we will have grown as a species.

Nevertheless, yes, it is true that with all the scare of nuclear lately, few realize that without it, we wouldnt have space programs.. and that without the internal combustion engine, we'd be horseriding. Then again, Tesla would have probably found a nice way to make a vehicle on wireless electricity (Induction).
