Description Meet the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (left to right); Jarhead, Polite Nazi Stereotype, Height Complex and Strong Female Archetype. All lit quite strongly from the side.

Not that Mignola's Nazi scientists are really the Horsemen (literally or figuratively), but a speech covering the loosing of the Horsemen is followed directly by Kroenen quoting from Revelations. The end times and the Nazis' army seem to be connected, I mean.
Kroenen's politeness becomes less stereotypical when one realises that he is a) nobility b) about 66. Kurtz's height complex becomes more evident the more one wonders why he's such an angry little git. Ilsa, incidentally, must be one of the few good female figures in these books; masculine (but then so were the Pre-Raphaelite models) but sympathetic. All I can say for Klempt is that Mignola clearly likes him more than the others, and that is a great shame.

P.S. After buying the first two books about four months ago, I've only recently learned to appreciate the full strength of Mignola's work. Good on 'im.

Nice! True Mignola-style!
...Plus, did you know that "kurtz" is german for "short"?
He must've had a hard time at school .

This is so striking! You've captured Mignola's style very nicely. I also really like the sense of humor in their poses.

Danke. It's a rare day when I can prevent some flippant gag from slipping into my work.

Really like all the black shading makes it look very serious. Well done.

Danke. I honestly don't know how Mignola does this style without hundreds of reference photos.

Ooh, I like this! I like the strong lighting, it's so easy to completely butcher things when they're half in shadow but it looks good!

This comic is now added to my list of things to read/purchase.

It's worth the seventy-odd pounds (dollars?) it costs to buy all of them, they're just lovely (if, I admit, a bit macho and/or pulpy).

Nice!

Y'know, I haven't read any of the Hellboy comics in their entirety. It's really time that I do.

It really is. Despite the lack of much clockwork Nazi action, they're quite excellently crafted.
