[ENTRY FOR (Disney-club) PRINCESS DESIGN SHEET CHALLENGE]
This is Mae.

She is the princess of a kingdom located deep in the jungles and forests of Asia. It is a prosperous empire and at heart they are a peaceful nation. But war has come to their door more than once before as there are some that resent Mae’s family for their conservational efforts. Not all Asian Elephants grow tusks, making them rare and increasing their value. A value that others desire, creating hostility between the different kingdoms. It was in one such conflict, when Mae was a little girl that both her parents died. Now it is just her and her brother, the Emperor.

Family is everything to the pair, but that doesn’t mean they always see eye to eye. In fact there is one major point of contention between them. Mae longs to leave the kingdom and see the outside world, to travel across the endless sea and experience all the different cultures for herself. Her brother, however, is unmarried and has no heirs, making Mae the next in line to ascend the throne should he die. A job she doesn’t want but duty dictates she must take on should the worst occur.

Trapped inside the palace, Mae rebels against her imagined chains whenever she can. Learning the way of the samurai is one such rebellion. Her brother only relented because he knew that she would never be allowed to leave the palace and put the skill to the test. It is, however, a skill that will one day save her life, though neither sibling knows this yet as our story actually begins with the brokering of a marriage proposal.

In the hopes of finally securing peace between their two kingdoms, Mae’s brother has agreed to marry the daughter of a neighbouring King. This is not a proposal that sits well with everyone inside the palace. There are some that are old enough to remember the wars and raids that lead to the death of Mae and her brother’s parents.

With plots and rifts rife within the kingdom tensions are high, particularly between the two siblings. But can either of them live long enough to see peace restored to their kingdom once more?
