Description A Soft Morning Along the Plum Creek Road, to give this piece its full title. The trees on the extreme right are all that is left of my untitled, unfinished piece of last week which proved too stiff, clunky and neither this nor that to finish. For a painting that I worked on for three days, always a bad sign, it turned out rather nice, in my opinion, reflecting the touch of fall that is already in the air around here.

16x24" 40x60cm acrylic on hardboard

And yet another series of great paintings! This one is my favorite of the three... : )

It is a comfortable painting -- mellower in life than it is in its photo. Have it over the fireplace until the next painting its size. Though I've photographed hundreds of my paintings, it is always so hard to get them close to what they actually look right even with photoshop or gimp. ...I can make them look better pretty easily, but right... Luckily, every computer monitor is different, so no point in getting too obsessive about it.

Excellent depth. Ductal variations are also great.

Thanks. As I mentioned in another comment, it is a bit more solid and mellow in real life. I love painting in golds, so I'm looking forward to autumn when I can get to use them.

My kind of scale, too. Burnt sienna and golden ochre.

I know what you mean.
I prefer to mix that particular blend myself, though. In Croatia it's sometimes called, the "Old Gold", but most often its red pigment comes in too fine granulation, so the end color gets orange. Therefore, I mix gold with a coarser pigment to get uneven dispersion within the stroke...Ok, I guess that's just me, but...

Like the softness and distance.

Thanks. Working on a painting for three days usually spells disaster for me, so I'm happy to have gotten a painting I like out of the work.
