Description Last one of these old Cape Cod series for this week. This one is a bit more authentic, I think. I have a quote on my blog that I sort of based this one on, but it is a bit too busy, though even after I simplified it a bit. (Original version is posted on my blog if you are curious.)

16x24" 40x60cm acrylic on hardboard

Like how you captured the light combined with
the colors, I love outdoor paintings, even if
your just using your imagination. If it wasn't
for the bay, I'd swear you were painting the
Texas hill country! (Hmmmm, areas of Canyon
Lake kind of look like this.)

one of my rare paintings with a middle distance -- maybe that's why I'm not too keen on it, myself.

Thanks -- though these are the things that drive artists crazy: week in, week out, the piece I like least -- as this one is -- draws the most page views and comments. I can only imagine how galling it must to artists who sell their work to have to paint what sells. Happily, I don't, and don't mind letting everyone decide what is best as well...

I am sorry that you take it like that... You have submitted this painting, so I presume that you like it in a way.
Of course, as the artist, you know what of your work is better, what is best. I only said what your painting was inspiring me, as I am an amateur... I didn't want to hurt you in anyway!

I love the colors that used and especially your brushstrokes. Together they definitely create an experience!

Thank you for your comments. I am trying to use a variety of brushstrokes to suggest things without trying to actually paint anything specific -- grasses without painting a blade of grass, bushes without a leaf.

I don't follow you work for a long time, so you may have pained such paintings before, but this is the first one, that has elements of expressionism, alluding a next stage of your development as an artist...
That's what I saw at least, hence my comment.
