Hello Amelie!I'm on holiday at the moment, staying with family in Canada, so I've been away from computers. Last night though, I was lucky enough to be near my uncle's mac & jumped at the chance to get back to Photoshop with a portrait of one of their devon rex cats, Amelie.
Copied from a photo, painted in Photoshop in mmm...between 2 & 3 hours I think. It was really good fun to do because I've been missing digital work anyway, but it was really just an exercise or a doodle so it's not all that wonderful
Any comments or crit welcome as always, & I hope you're all well

Oooh, fancy. Reminds me of olde worlde oil paintings, plus, you've chosen a seriously interesting subject, devon rex and sphynx cats are fascinating. You've really got the angle well, and the light hitting various areas. Very impressive

I thought that it had a sort of classic feel to it as well! I think it's the dark, rich background colour coupled with the chiaroscuro, except it's of...a weird cat rather than half naked ladies n stuff 
Rex's are so strange, but they have a sort of elegance that I don't think you get in a 'normal' cat, & their tiny features & big eyes are so pretty

Don't forget the cat 'cause cats make every picture great by just being in it.
Besides, I think the lighting is the thing that makes it special because it's the finishing touch.
If the rest of the picture weren't good, even the lighting wouldn't make it succesfull.

I also love Amelie! Your so at Andrews house then! I love that house so much its so nice and i always feel so welcome there, and they have the most awesome cats! Did you meet Sam!?! He is way named after me and he is WAY the cutest!

Wow, looks amazing. Rex cats used to be my favorite cat when I was younger, I love the way their coats are all wiry.

I never actually even saw a Rex before I met my auntie, I think her kids are allergic to normal cat fur so they had to get Rex's instead, & now really love them ;D They're so soooft & little

Aw thankyou!! To be honest the light is just how it was in the photograph, the light on her right side was so bright it was white, I just darkened the dark tones to make it moodier

That is good, it is a good thing. Your picture, I'm not so sure of it. Heylady, it is a cat but it lacks the furs, why is fur not there, is it a desease? Keep the desease cat from me, I'm proud of my fur, yeah.

Ehe, thankyou!! I'm not usually a fan either; I find animal portraits over sentimental & kinda twee, especially of pet cats, but I didn't mind this as an exercise & the people who own the cat liked it
