Description Just a sudden idea that popped into my mind while on dA, about what some idiots think they are. Invincible, intelligent, needed. But they aren't invincible, intelligent or needed.

I'm considering making this a series. BUT WHO KNOWS. Maybe Uni will get to me first. Urgh.

COMMENTS AND CRITIQUE ARE VERY MUCH LOVED.
I'm poor and I can't afford the pretty little button for critiques, so do so in the comments section and I can't be bothered asking for points. Don't worry I won't kill you and donate your organs for scientific reasons.

Take and be ræped

The little owl-deer (dowl? oweer?) was created by me. No, it's not my fursona or any of that furry shit, just my... creation?

I really, really like this. I hope your proud of this piece
After I'm finished gushing all over it, I'm going to scour your gallery for other gems.
I disagree with one of the above comments, the text is lovely. I like the juxtaposition of all those sweet, happy little flowers against such a negative statement.
Not that I think you were actually influenced by it, but the patterns in and around the dowl/oweer make me so nostalgic for the intro to the animated verion of Watership Down.
Very beautiful.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a lovely comment
I'm still trying to connect my meanings with my drawings now, so hopefully my next piece in this style will convey the message better.
I have never heard of Watership Down, but i'm going to google that now!

Oh, I try You're very welcome!

So, what exactly is the message? I'm really curious! Not that I'm having a poke at you or trying to say that you're bad at conveying messages, I genuinely need things being pointed out to me because I suck at interpreting subtext in art. I just sorta see these things in my own, weird and wonderful way.
This is why I can't deal with poetry

It might be a little late to enjoy Watership Down, I'm not sure if it still stands up. It's a very old book that got made into an animation in the late 70s, but I still love it to death (nostalgia ). If you think rabbits having their own civilization and culture is cool, you'll enjoy it. You'll enjoy it even more if you'd like to see a lot of them die.

Here's the intro: [link] the rest of the film is entirely different. If it's captured your interest, don't get it mixed up with the horrible TV series from 1999. That was terrible.

Well, truth be told, when I first started the image, I was just, well, drawing a deer with ultra detailed details (lolwat), but it slowly transformed over the period of time that I was drawing it. It wasn't until I started drawing the mushrooms when someone said "Those mushrooms looks like the ones in the Alice in Wonderland" (Me:) I stopped, and went on dA, got frustrated with some idiots online and then proceeded to continue on with the drawing while angry. So that's when the message came up, and it matched with the whole 'magical non-existent' atmosphere of Alice. I am so horrible at conceptual pieces, mainly because I was never taught to do that-- I'm way too modernist sometimes ONE INTERPRETATION PLEASE.
Wahahha, you should have seen me in english classes Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes. Bad days.

And oh my lawd. I will forever bear your children Just watching the series made me 'gaahahaha' and rush off to find my pencils to draw! I really want to find this book now! (I'm a little bit too young, like 20 years younger, lol) but I think the internet will prevail and i'll find a copy on ebay. Hopefully. This series looks amazing. The lines and the colours = yesss. I am definitely going to watch this series now, thanks so much for introducing me to it!! I can't wait to draw this.

Thank you so much for taking your time to write me an awesome comment and for introducing to this series I'll tell you when I'm done with my interpretation of Watership Down

Pfff! I've never seen any mushrooms in any Alice in Wonderland adaptation that ever looked like that. I even googled it. Screw those guys.

Aah! Do not get the movie mixed up with the series! Jaisus. No. Just don't! asdghgdjkfg

Movie = timeless 70s British animation (torrentness: [link] )
Series = tripe for kids (also from Britain)

But, like I said, the rest of the movie after the intro is completely different. Oh wow, I kinda have to watch it myself now and get all misty when Fiver starts following the black rabbit of inlΓ©.

Apparently the disney version was the thing that they compared it too.
Also, the movie doesn't follow the style that they showed in the introduction? I'm sad. I really like that style.

Also, just for you: [link]
When I'm done, I'll upload the full here for you.

WHY THE OWL-DEER

I mean, the idea is a criticism to people who think they're too cool? If that's so...

People who think they're too cool for everyone aren't really that cool, ergo, OWL-DEER. (????)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

LittleLaceDress In reply to gardenerking [2011-03-19 09:39:10 +0000 UTC]

THE OWL DEER CAUSE I LIKE OWLS AND DEER AND I MEAN I'M A LAZY BIATCH AND I FINALLY FOUND A WAY OF PUTTING THEM TOGETHER AND SPENDING LESS TIME DRAWING THEM SEPARATELY.

YUS or something like that. Or you know, how young people think they're invincible because they're young (after a few drinks or something)? I want people to reconsider that we are still human beings and not androids and the like.

"how young people think they're invincible because they're young (after a few drinks or something)? I want people to reconsider that we are still human beings and not androids and the like."

ergo, OWL-DEER

LittleLaceDress In reply to gardenerking [2011-03-20 05:07:51 +0000 UTC]

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY "ergo, Owl Deer"

I actually drew the owl-deer first, then the words and the meanings (I'm not a very deep person at times) came to me.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

gardenerking In reply to LittleLaceDress [2011-03-20 05:23:35 +0000 UTC]

im sorry, haha, i was to this illustration workshop and i've been thinking more about connecting the meaning with the image. Sorry. It just bothered me (again, your work is awesome it's just something personal) that you gave an explanaton and i can't find that explanation in the image.

but that's just me.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

LittleLaceDress In reply to gardenerking [2011-03-20 05:41:02 +0000 UTC]

GAH You're lucky. I'm suck in Interior design so I don't get those workshops to help me with all that jazz.
It's all right, I needed someone to tell me what was wrong with the image.
I was considering the next few images in this series to actually have some connection with the words/sentence.

CAUSE I'M GAY AND I DIDN'T THINK OF THAT EARLIER.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

gardenerking In reply to LittleLaceDress [2011-03-20 06:05:20 +0000 UTC]

I mean, I'm not saying it's a bad drawing, it's excellent. As art it's awesome but as an illustration this would be not effective since the "message" isn't delivered.

But yeah, give it a shot lol.
