Thought this might be helpful to some people. ^_^I had to do this today, it's really hot in our house and the AC doesn't really reach the rats, but this worked really well!
-Note: you should probably keep an eye on the paper towel, eventually it will need to be changed or it'll start raining on your rats.

I used to just freeze water bottles and put them in the cages when I was younger, I don't know if someone told me about it or if I just did it on my own, But yesterday was SUPER hot and this idea just hit me. i tried it, and it worked great! so i had to let the world know!

I need to try this with my rats. The heat is horrible here, and we don't have air conditioning at all

aw, yeah, deffinately try it! My rats crawled right into the hammocks, they caught on quick, I bet yours would too. It's horrible feeling helpless when It's so hot out. Frozen pea fishing is another fun idea to cool off ratties, though it can get a bit messy. :3

That's awesome, I would apply the same techniques to my rabbits, but they would chew the hammocks apart. I guess I'll just leave them out.
