Alternative Title: Shoulder To Cry OnYeah, you can probably guess where the inspiration comes from (if the title isn't a dead give away, the image is). It really does feel like that though, glass between us. Only, the light is different, it's brighter on my side... I have a loving family, they take care of me and give me strength, encourage me and make my life better... She's in the dark with the opposite...
There is nothing I can do to help her. I can't hug her, or speak to her in person. I'm a thousand plus miles away. I know if those thousand miles where some how compressed, they'd make glass very much like this, and it'd be impossible to break it... The glass can't be broken now, but eventually she will get to the other side. Yeah, then she'll have her shoulder to cry on... but that time, with tears of happiness.

erm...I'd like to ask...we've been together for about three months, and I'd like to ask you if you have some advice.

No, it's not easy, and I'm assuming your relationship is long distance too. So I have a few personal things so far.
For one, communication is the most important thing in a relationship, as I'm sure you've discovered. It's important to be honest and listen, but also to tell. As we've found out, a few days of not getting to talk much at all can make it difficult to feel connected. After all, if you only type your conversations, there is so little that is actually there to interpret. You can never interpret something typed the same way as it is said.
Just the same, if you only voice talk, you're still losing some of the communication process. So I would say the main goal is to meet. I don't know your relationship, but since many DA couples start on here, it's important to arrange a meeting. A long distance relationship can crumble if the couple doesn't meet soon. If you wait too long, you build only an idea of how that person is and it can be shocking when you finally meet them.
After all, you never truly know a person unless you're actually with them. You can say you act the same online as you do in person, which can be true to an extent, but remember you can't see all the quirks or way a person's body language expresses online.
So, what can you two do to stay strong? A little communication every day can go a long way. If you have cell phones, texting is nice. So is using an instant messenger. Amber and I managed to survive a bit better by using headsets to talk online while we drew or wrote. A webcam can also help break that barrier of getting to know that person better. And I don't know about you, but actually seeing that person there can bring a big smile and make you feel closer. But of course, I'm saying these things without knowing what you've done so far.
There is no real secret, but there is one important thing to remember: love is a choice, as is everything we do. We choose to love. You can be attracted by certain things as they come, or possibly be repelled by some things, but ultimately it is our choice to what we do. You can choose to make the relationship easier to bare, or harder. You can choose to be upset over certain things, or get over them. The sooner people realize how important choice is, the easier (and sometimes harder) things can become.
I don't know if that helps or hinders for you, but I'm trying to speak from what we've learned and from my heart. When I first met Amber, I was expecting some kind of lightning that I would instantly know I love her. But truth is, I chose to love her already. So, make as many good decisions as you can. Choose to love that person special to you, and do what you can to make them happy and yourself happy. Share, communicate, and do everything you can think of till the distance is closed.

Yeah, I can't see how hard it is to have a loving relationship with your family. I mean, anything negative between people can be flipped to a positive, or at least for a family, but it just doesn't work out that way sometimes because some people are stubborn or other things I rather not say in the event they figure out how to read this (not her, her mom and the Vince). Best I can offer is to let her share my family when she moves here. They'll love her, and I know she already loves them.
She'll always have me, and I'll always talk with her. Other than the love from her friends, I want to be the major source through thick and thin.
And have fun on stealing with the P.S., hah hah.

This is true for everything.
Imagine if the world was perfect, we could never get sick, or starve, never be afraid that someone will hurt you or make you sad. If we never got sick, there would be no need to have compassion and help those that are sick, so we couldn't appreciate good health. If we didn't starve, people wouldn't need to work to make food, thus team work wouldn't be needed, and thus have no appreciation. Without fear, there would be no point of courage in this world.
And like her quote, if there was no sadness, no one could appreciate the true value of happiness.
Tough times are now, but eventually, we'll both have a chance to be happy together, and truly appreciate it.

Hah hah, you're totally kind of right, with the exception of it being a drawing and no drawing going on in it.
I think anyone that has seen Draw With Me will always make that connection, though I know for a fact long distance relationships have felt that way for a long time, or at least over the Internet. You can see, even hear with the mic, but you can't just reach out and be with them. It always seemed to me Mikeinel saw that and transformed it into his piece, that's why people like it so much, they can relate.

y'know... I'm still young, so I dunno too much, but I can tell that kind of feeling in both this and that. :< Obviously, I can't relate, having never been in a relationship (though sometimes I wonder if I'd like to be in one), but I still find it really valuable to look at pieces like this.
