Description this photograph was one that really grabbed me while i was in zambia. this child was very cautiously watching me from a distance as i walked around phtographing the things around him.. then i dropped to one knee right in front of him and started taking these.. he wasnt afraid, he wasnt angry.. it was just a casual moment.. like he trusted me.

and i felt this all through the eyes of a 4 year old child in a zambian marketplace.. we arent very different after all.

It's like time froze when your eyes met his. His gaze says it all. Great pic!

There are so many great shots in your gallery! However this one really jumped out out me. It is, to me, a very exotic shot, I have never been Zambia or any where near there, but this shot takes me there. The tones are great and I love that tire there, it makes that little guy look so little.
I look forward to more of your work.
Sean

personally i think that is an abuse of power .... now i don't know about you but if i was living in the same conditions as that kid .... and this rich person with a camera and a computer and a home is take pictures of me .... i would personaly give that person a close up on my fist .. if u know what i mean ... did u even ask this kid if he wanted to be photographed ? the kid was probably looking at you thinking what is this guy doing u know ?

-ok first you say you want to "communicate this childs life to the rest of the world.. so that they may get a taste of what they have that so many others dont? " ok so you're objective is to show the rest of the world how this kids is living .... and how do you think the people who have seen this have responded .... "Great picture ... what a child protΓ©gΓ©e" i don't think its done much ... maybe you should join a foundation and help these people ... instead of boasting your doing alot with a little picture ... and what did you do with the rest of all those pictures you took a the little kids ?

-with the photogournalist part ... i think we all know what is happening in the world... what are you doing to help it .. like i'm part of 4 foundations ... i donate 1/4 of my monthly wages to these foundations so i'm not being ignorant ...

-and last thing ... if your soo mature ... thank you for leaving your grade 2 comment on my page ... i think deuch bag helps your whole side on this kid ... grow up

an abuse of power? i want to communicate this childs life to the rest of the world.. so that they may get a taste of what they have that so many others dont? you call this ABUSE?

you need to check your self.

photojournalists do not take pictures FOR THEIR OWN BETTERMENT. they do it to hopefully help others and reflect to the world what is actually happening.. of course you could take the completely biased side of the argument (as you have) and say that i was infiltrating their lives without reason.. but in actuality there WAS a reason and there WAS an ultimate goal for this photograph.

by the end of the day that i spent in this place i had groups of people following me asking for me to take their photographs, i always asked the mother (if there was one present) if a photograph would be okay, and i was welcomed every single time.

you know what you do about africa because someone else has told you. expose yourself, and stop thinking that the entire continent hates people from more fortunate places.

its called ignorance when you do that. you dont want to be ignorant do you?

i love the composition, his expression is larger than life, but when you realize he is the size of a bicycle tire it puts things into perspective, physically and emotionally.
