Ugly little critter.
What if the Ghostbusters met it? or if you shot it with a shotgun or stabbed it's eye nose?
Wang should had brought a bag with him when he killed that little disgusting blob then put the dead thing in the bag and take it back to his uncle's restaurant to preserve it in a jar and display it as he could make money big time as it would be in front of the restaurant.

I'm guessing it's one of those monsters you have to know exactly where to stab. Though the Ghostbusters would've blasted it to bits.

And would it bounce if you blast it with a shotgun?

it be funny and do you agree Wang should had a bag to collect that ugly little critter and preserve it in a jar and use it as a display in front of the restaurant? that would make good business.

Egg Shen: I am the past come back to haunt you, Lo Pan! (Chinese)
Jack Burton: My God! No. Please. What is that? Don't tell me.
Egg Shen: A guardian. What it sees, Lo Pan knows.

In D&D I guess it would be a mini beholderkin. It seems likely that there was some beholder inspiration here. But, this is still a really different creature comparatively. The eyemouth, nose eye, and inverse face are really unique features. Great depiction of a gross-out favorite.

If you're doing a floating head with eyes, it's gonna be compared with the Beholder.

Yeah, fair enough. It's a hard shared culture image to overlook or escape from. When I saw this movie at around 9 my mind instantly referenced the beholder. It's kinda surprising the D&D toy line chose a pvc grellΒ and boliwogs over a beholder toy.
Also, the Big Trouble watcher was similar to the truly bizarre looking sentry bot in Flash Gordon in a way

(Lo Pan's voice) They have returned. And this time, they're not alone. Egg Shen is with them. Hmph. The little bastard sorcerer has brought them through the bog of the dead trees. Egg Shen. Egg Shen. You have come a long ways to find me, but it is too late. There are two girls with green eyes and I'll marry them both. And then, I'll sacrifice Gracie Law to appease my emperor and live out my earthly pleasures with Miao Yin. (Evil laugh) That's right, Egg Shen. The best of two worlds. (Evil laugh)

Β Yes, but I must admit to whipping up those little wisecracks in the spirit of Jack Burton rather than cribbing quotes from the film (since I've only seen it once or twice).Β

It was a delightful looking drone-familiar critter though. Lots of imagination in the film, done fairly well and even with a little characterization too.Β

In the Big Trouble In Little China board game it's simply called "Guardian".
