Description A Tomato Frog hiding amidst the vines of some plant in his terrarium.

As the sign says, Tomato Frogs, when threatened by a predator, will rely on their bright red color as a warning to be left alone. If the predator pays no heed to it's color, they will puff themselves up much larger than they actually are...a trick seemingly used by many, many animals (such as the puffer fish and others) and if that doesn't work for them, they will secrete a slime over their bodies that is highly toxic.

Girls, this is one frog/toad you definitely don't want to try kissing!

First time I'd ever seen a tomato frog and I couldn't believe it's color. Glad you liked it Jo. It's so hard to shoot through glass and get it to come out right.

I love it, Mark. The color is amazing indeed and the photo is beautiful. These little critters are bringing us some surprises sometimes, there is so much to learn from them.
But you know how much I love animals!
My pleasure, really!

Mark. I'm on a fave and run spree cause I gotta get caught up. One of my favorite things about your work is the little stories you tend to tell. But I'm gonna force myself to just fave some. No reading and no commenting of my own. I hope you understand, my friend. (And I'm behind on messages too, but I'll get there...)
