Your poor pitiful sister is no more, Celestia of the Sun! I am Reborn as the True Queen of the Night! I am Nightmare Moon, fear me and love me! From this day forth, the Night will last FOREVER!Long ago, the Ursa used to live in harmony with Ponykind, living in peaceful coexistence under pacts with Luna Princess of the Night. But that peace was broken when the evil Nightmare Moon killed the eldest of the Ursa Majors. Wearing the fading glory of the Great beasts pelt as a trophy. Distrust between the Ponies and the Ursa.... Was never healed.

It took quite a bit of time to get done, but it's finally ready. It was a bit of a challenge to figure out how to colour her black coat, but I went with a shiny blue highlight style rather than try to use grey. It's very nice how it came out to be.
I hope you guys here like it as well. 8D

I always liked drawing her and Celestia's manes like they we're real hair, looks more substantial that way. 8D And over-designing armour and outfits is always fun.

Buh.... Here I am, looking through my messages and I see this amazing piece of work.
I gave a 5 for vision, because both the art style itself and what nightmare moon is wearing set it apart from most of the artwork I've seen of Luna's alter ego. Definitely one of the more beautiful ones as well.
a 5 for originality as well, because most of the artwork out there of her is usually her in-show appearance or as close as you can get with a humanized version. Her outfit sort of speaks viking warrior to me, but with a bit of Castlevania's Dracula flair to it, especially with her cape and helmet.
I'm not a very good judge of techniques, because I'm more of an artist with words, however, whatever you did here made it look amazing.
For impact, I was quite literally struck speechless for a few moments. It almost looked like she was about to jump through my computer screen and bring about eternal night.
Overall, bravo to you, good person, for an epic job that would make anyone proud to be a brony or pagasister.

This is the most epic thing I have ever seen of a NNM picture
I love the details on the armor, the claws and horns... and man the starls in her mane and tail is amazing
great work with adding a lighter blue to make shadows on her black coat, and I cant belive how realistic her wings go from fur to feathers without it looking forced or strange.
The cape is also a nice touch, however at first I wondered how NNM got Discords arm, before reading in the description that it was the pelt of the Ursa leader

It was a challenge to colour her because of the dark colour scheme, but it seemed to turn out pretty good in the end. 8D

You know, i think Nightmare Moon should have been given a chance to rule.Ā I mean yes she would have bathed the world in eternal night, but everything was reliant on magic so i doubt sunlight was needed.Ā Besides, Celestia was a shit leader.Ā In her centuries of life despite facing all sorts of horrible abominations including the bastard love child of Q and Sheogorath, she never developed a new weapon beyond the Elements of Harmony, in fact she left the fucking things behind after the Biomass-- er, Everfree Forest, began to spread, she never improved her own powers or made a real army so the entire capital city was defeated by fucking bugs, she never learned to keep an eye out for creatures like Changelings, she never killed Discord or found a more reliable way to save Luna, she made shit plans staking the fate of the entire nation and perhaps entire world on a group of teenagers, at least three of whom were mentally unstable, and she didn't even learn to recognize a pestilence that could devour an entire towns food supply.
Celestia was maliciously stupid.Ā Nightmare Moon was at least legitimately malicious.Ā Maybe the tyrant would have been preferable to the idiot.

You do have some very well-drawn work, but this one is by leaps and bounds your best. The piece speaks of power, of a dark majesty, and of a being not of night, but like Tirek from G1, of nightmare itself. This is almost, no is, a better look for Nightmare Moon than the one the show itself actually brought us. Combined with her coat, which is near to the blackness of a black hole, the stars in her mane no longer speak of the beauty and tranquility of space, but its eternal, lonely emptiness. This Nightmare Moon is not one who merely threatens, but clearly has acted, and is ready to act again. There are so many story ideas in this, such a wondrously nightmarish universe just in this picture's depths, that there's only one thing that keeps it from being perfect. The cape does not fit the rest, I think. It just seems to be too much. Hmmmm... I don't know what to rate it, but it is an epic piece, and made me appreciate Nightmare Moon more.
