Description This was a commission for my aunt as a gift. This is a drawing based on a photograph of Melvin A. Davis, a soldier in the United States Army during the 1943-45 time frame. Stationed in Germany and was a member of Patton's Division called "Hell on Wheels". He was also an expert marksman. Basically, it was an honor for me to accept such a drawing of an American war hero.

As for the drawing itself, I am especially proud of my shading techniques. I feel I went an extra distance in my skill as towards realism drawings.

Wow! Words cannot describe what I feel about this piece! You did an excellent job in the realism dept. my dear. This has got to be one of my favorite things you've ever done! I know your aunt will be happy with this!

How big is it? You should have this professionally framed. And yes, charge lots more for this kind of work! Depending on size of the paper I'd say between $60 - $80 or more depending on detail.

You make me want to work on my realism...but that will never happen. I just can't do it like this!

Man!! That is some awesome realism!! Though some of the shading is especially sharp, I think it really gives a neat dramatic feel!! ^____^ Great honour indeed!!

What were you using for this??

I was using a variety of H and B pencils, mainly 4-H and 2- 4- and 6-B.

Holy cracking hellfire. ...On wheels.

Dude. You should charge more for your realism pieces if this is the sort of thing you're going to churn out.

The variety of shading, texture and gradient used in this is completely stunning. You have done yourself, your country and Melvin Davis proud. I look forward to seeing more like this from you in the future.
