Description
This time, we venture from the fiery lands of Southern Arcadia to the frigid reaches of North-West Elysium.

The Grancerf is the largest known species of Cervid that can be found in the north. It inhabits ancient forests where it feeds on ferns and young saplings thus maintaining the forest floor.

Though aside from their massive size, they look like regular deer, the Grancerf have one major thing that makes them stand out: sonic bellows. In a world filled with dragons, manticores, griffins, and other absurdly dangerous creatures, even the most unassuming herbivores need some way to defend themselves. Both males and females of this species are capable of producing deafening sonic blasts from their mouths (like a sonic "breath weapon") which they use to fend off, and sometimes even incapacitate, most large predators that would like to make a meal out of them.

Outside of the fawning season (when the does become super protective of their newborns), the Grancerf are very much indifferent towards human-sized creatures. Most of the common predators in the north are too small to threaten these massive deer, so they get ignored. This actually allows scholars to come fairly close to these cervids and collect a lot of data fairly easily... as long as they don't actively cause them distress.
