Not much time to write a proper comment but ta da!! Ember and Flame are now in the LoS universe (because I haven't seen any other artist do this thus far)

Storry tiiimmmeee

The amount of Grublins and Orcs infiltrating the city was unheard of. Swarm upon swarm of the critters lurked around every corner and down every alleyway; they were growing in numbers by the second. They couldn’t hold them off forever.

Flame engaged with yet another of the creatures, powerfully kicking out with his forelegs and wings which were slowly growing weak with fatigue.

“Just a few more!” Charger, an older electricity dragon, hollered to his right; Flame glanced in his direction to see that said dragon had just disposed of a gnarly looking Orc. Fuelled by his friend’s triumph, Flame made quick work of his opponent with a short, sharp blast of fire. His enemy collapsed soon after and Flame breathed a sigh of relief when the gemstone shards the Grublin had left behind gave him a little more strength to continue fighting with. He turned to Charger to see him panting heavily before being joined by an equally tired Earth dragoness whom had helped them dispose of the group of enemies.

“Is that the last of them?” Flame asked wearily.

“I’m not sure,” Charger replied, “its odd: they seem to be retreating.”

Flame glanced about quizzically and sure enough, the remaining enemies in the courtyard were hastily running in the opposite direction or swiftly burrowing into the ground and out of sight. “What are they doing?” Flame exclaimed, “They were so close to overpowering us!”

“Something’s wrong,” the Earth dragoness murmured, studying the surrounding area with narrowed golden eyes.

“We should go to the ramparts!” Flame shouted, already turning on heel towards the entrance of the city.

“Flame wait!” Charger cried after him.

But Flame wasn’t listening, he was already halfway up the steps and around a corner onto the upper level before Charger had a chance to catch him. The young fire dragon raced through the city, tripping over his tired feet and stumbling on the rubble of fallen buildings. Thankfully, all enemies encountered were also on the way out of the city so no one interrupted him as he barrelled round corners and bolted down corridors. Flame skidded to a stop at a crumbled balcony and peered down at the city. He closer to the main entrance now and the destruction in this part of the city far surpassed that of where he was fighting earlier: rubble stretched as far as the eye could see and buildings which once towered over his head lay desecrated in the dust at the feet of the citizens. His chest wheezed and heaved as his inhaled smoke and grime causing him to splutter through his loss of breath. People were yelling, there were screams in the distance and the citizen of Warfang could be seen picking themselves up after battles with Malefor’s forces. Flame began walking the open corridor to his left, breath still short and shallow from running. His had to halt and brace himself as a horrendous shudder shook the earth beneath him and a piercing screech rang out eerily over the remnants of the city. The tremor ceased and a deathly silence gripped Warfang. And then the screaming and yelling was back tenfold, Flame dived to the edge of the corridor and saw the citizens in hysterics, darting left, right and centre and crying out to each other. “What the hell is going on,” Flame gritted out before tearing down the corridor and barrelling down the steps at the other end. He leapt skywards, powerful wings battling the updrafts until he had a better view of the chaos beneath him.

“Flame!” as voice cried from behind him.

The young dragon turned, “Cyril” he hollered, “What in God’s name is going on!?”

The Ice elder swooped to Flame’s side and hovered in mid-air, he looked worn out and burned in a few places on him body from the fires he had been working hard to tame. “The Great Earth Golem! It’s here Flame, it’s in the city! You need to get to the safe houses and tell as many people you can on the way! The elders are fighting it as we speak and Spyro has done his best to hold off the army outside.”

“Wait, Spyro!? He’s in the city?” Flame exclaimed. He had been told by the elders that the purple dragon he had known for so long had finally been found but he was aware of how much danger his friend was in, surely he couldn’t be in the city with this onslaught of evil!? “We need to get him to safety!”

“Spyro and his companions have been told that they should get under cover, they’re probably at the safe house as we speak.”

“Alright, I’ll get as many citizens as I can to safety,” Flame nodded determinedly, “good luck Cyril.”

“Thankyou young dragon, be safe,” and with that, Cyril dived for the East, aiming for the great beast that could be seen pushing buildings aside as if they were made of paper. Flame eyed it warily, a mixture of fear and hate filling his chest and then he was diving himself, down towards the ground under him. He landed heavily in the dust and began urging all that surrounded him to get to the safe houses. He walked with them, steering them away from the beast at the East of the city and forming a group of survivors to protect all the way to the safe houses in the West. It was going to take longer as a group but they would be safer in numbers. After 10 minutes of trudging over rubble a young ice dragon stumbled towards them up ahead, Flame ran to him as he collapsed in the dust.

“Hey kid, can you hear me?” Flame asked in a rush when he reached the boy’s side.

The young dragon before him merely blew a puff of air into the dirt, screwing his eyes up in pain.

Flame gently picked the smaller dragon up in his forpaws, noting that one of the kid’s legs were broken. He turned to the group that were following him to safety, “I need to get this kid to a healer, who knows where the safe houses are located?”

A mole limped forward on a makeshift staff, “I know the way,” he spoke softly.

“Alright, you must lead this group to them, find as many survivors you can on the way, good luck my friend.”

The mole nodded importantly before walking forwards on his staff, followed by the others.

Flame hummed to himself and then pushed off of the dirt with his back legs into the air with his cargo of injured dragon.

He reached the nearest safe house swiftly and disposed of his load with an experienced healer. He walked to the open balcony and looked out over the remains of the city. This part of the city was near intact and the Southern temple looked unscathed. ’Ember.’ Flame gasped loudly, his eyes wide with realisation. He had left Ember at the temple this morning for a meeting with the elders; when the battle had commenced he had begun fighting without a second thought for her. He glanced at the temple again, the city was vast and the part where she was located was barely touched, ’she probably won’t even know we’re under attack,’ he punched his paws on the railing. “How could I be so stupid!?” he exclaimed to himself.

A screech tore through the silence of the safe house and Flame watched in horror as the Golem began tramping its way towards the temple, aiming to destroy the heart of the city.

“Shit..”

Flame took to the skies with panicked speed, forcing his exhausted wings to work furiously against the winds and smoke in the air. Ember was in danger and he’s be damned not to get there quick enough. The temple stood high over the city and the streets below were live with citizens running from its core, they knew the Golem was heading their way. Flame dived through an open balcony around half way up the structure. He raced down the corridors and up stairways, desperate to get to Ember’s chambers higher up whilst encouraging all those he saw to flee and find cover. He skidded around the corner that led to Ember’s room and dashed across the marble floor at break neck speed. He door was locked, “Goddammit!” He wailed and pounded in the large oak structure, she would never hear him from within. Growling he turned on heel and leapt from the nearest open window he could find. He swooped in mid air and flew towards for her balcony. The winds this high up were harsh and buffeted his body as he worked so desperately to fight them. Ember’s balcony was in sight, he tucked in his wings and spiralled towards it, pulling up harshly before his crashed into the hard, polished stone. The Chamber was silent, the raucous of the city barely audible within the thick walls of the room. Ember lay, fast asleep, curled up on the stone slabs of the floor. He ran to her side, now aware of why she hadn’t fled the building yet. “Ember!” He yelled, have of him ashamed for waking her, the other half fearing for their safety. The young dragoness at his feet jolted from slumber, head whipping around in her disorientation. “Ember,” Flame spoke softer this time, “you need to get out right now, we’re under attack and the temple might be hit.”

“Wait what!?” Her face scrunched up in sleep-caused confusion and panic.

“There’s no time to explain, let’s go,” he nudged her to her feet then both stumbled to the balcony. The golem was fast approaching, but he’d gotten there in time.

Ember stood shocked next to him, “Wha.. What is that?” He a harsh shudder of fear wracked her lithe frame.

“It doesn’t matter, we need to go.”

She nodded, wide teal eyes still watching the beast in dread and shocked awe.

“Ember!” Flame exclaimed when she didn’t move from her stance.

She blinked, shook her head slightly and looked at Flame, “the city.”

“It’ll be alright, Ember,” he soothed, taking in how shocked she actually was, “we need to get to safety and I’ll tell you everything.”

The young dragoness nodded again and took to the skies after Flame.
