Did you have the variable width line settings on?

I kept changing widths. Nothing is set up though.

Not sure what drawing program you were using, but many have a variable width option that cause the amount of pressure or speed, sometimes even the angle you hold the pen modify the brush type in the drawing program. These do require the drivers for the tablet to be installed, however.

I figured out how to do the pressure thing. If I spent a week or 2 just drawing with this thing I am sure I could adjust to it with no issue. It is hard to not look down while drawing. I have an Intous3.

yay! :3
That Intuous 3 you have is MUCH better than my tiny Bamboo was. You should have a much better time learning with that thing :3

My boyfriend just recently got an iPad 1 from him dad (who upgraded to the iPad 2, psh) and so I bought him a stylus, it's pretty neat, a guy in my class has one for his iPad 2 and does some awesome game concept art with it, though we find that it lends itself a bit better to painting rather then drawing.

Excuse me for interrupting your comment, but is the iPad really that good for art and such?
I have trouble with my tablet because of the whole looking at the computer over here while drawing on the tablet over there thing. I was interested in the iPad for mobile computing (my laptop. is so. HEAVY.). If the iPad is really that useful for art?
Thank you for your time.

It depends on what you're looking to do with it. From what I've seen, if you know what you're doing with digital painting, have the right apps (Sketchbook Pro seems good for drawing while ProCreate is better for painting) and have a stylus (about $17 from Best Buy) then you can get some really nice results on the go. I wouldn't say that it would be a full time solution, but for keeping yourself busy and practicing art, it seems like a great idea. For a permanent solution to your problem, it may be simply that your settings are off, drawing tablets like the Bamboo have different settings for screen size and aspect ratio, try stretching or not stretching your canvas to your screen; this may cause a problem of your tablet not being able to reach certain parts of your screen, but with a mouse on hand it might not be a problem. If that still dosn't work, then look into the Wacom Cintiqs [link] their certainly pricey, but if you're doing digital painting for a living then it's a must.

The settings are fine, it's just my head that's the issue. I'll have to get a cintiq eventually. Thank you for your time. ^^

hm... nice, though you may want to try upping your occupancy or tooling around with your brush settings if you want something less sketchy
