Description Imperial Legion soldier armed with a modified Imperial shield with the Akatosh seal and an Imperial steel sword. Swear to god too much reference to the Roman Legion. But they are badass as well in heavy armor than light armor, which most should wear in Skyrim.

I have been a major Skyrim player, and been with the legion all the way. Honestly the only thing I can see that would make this better would be if there was a battle with the Stormcloaks around him. Other than that, this is simply amazing work. "LordHayabusa" has without a doubt set a high standard for others to strive for. The detail and slight twists he makes (Like the shield in this one) add a spark of originality and flavor to ideas that society has already deemed great on their own. I honestly believe that thanks to people like this great artist, writers like me have extra inspiration to continue on in Fan Fictions, and original stories based off of things we've seen and appriciated

Well Lord Hayabusa, you are in luck if you prefer the heavy armor.Β If you read the Manual of Armor (a book from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion) you may have noticed that light armor is to be used during raids and skirmishs. But what are these?

Raiding is a military tatic where the objective is not to defeat and control, but to finish with the raiding force quickly retreating to a previous defended position prior to enemy forces being able to respond in a co-ordinated manner or formulate a counter-attack (in other words: causing damage without taking control over the territory). Skirmish is a minor battle in a war, be it between small troops or by outlying detachments (lying to separated enemy groups to confuse them) of the enemy. None of these match the leggionaires that fight over forts and that are ecountered during "Battle for Whiterun" and "Battle for Windhelm".

The book also mentions that heavy armor is to be used by frontline infantry (the soldiers that directly attack the enemy during a battle), and THIS matches with the soldiers that are encountered in preety much every Civil War quest (in Battle for Whiterun, for example, the amount of stormcloak soldiers attacking is supposed to be huge, so logically infantry would be sent there to protect the city). There is a mod for the Special Edition that "fixes" this (so obviously I do not recommend you to buy Skyrim for PS3 and XBOX 360): it is called "Civil War Equipment Organization" and it is completely friendly with "Manual of Armor".

"in heavy armor than light armor, which most should wear in Skyrim." I made a mod that basically stopped them being a full Light armor group and put the armor into roles that even the game baseically states.
Imperial Light being the Scout(The Guards even say it's a scouts armor so what is it doing spawning in the Legionarries that are fighting over city’s and forts), Imperial Studded with light being Archers and Imperial heavy for Infantry. Though I'm currently working on getting the full face helm at least involved just got to work out how to do the world encounters and I'll have a horse patrol out.
Mod's on Nexus the one on Steam Workshop is outdated the name should be "Imperial Legion organized" or something similar.

In Skyrim, I only found heavy armor useful for looking badass considering light armor can hit the armor cap easily. The 2k armor rating while wearing Daderic is cool, but ultimately useless.

Classic Imperials. The armor is both stylish and effective against sword blows. Wonder why they use to be blue in Morrowind and changed to Red in Skyrim?

13thprotector In reply to Mipesuves [2014-01-16 02:00:25 +0000 UTC]

Well, true, but I liked the old Morrowind armor, it was basically the same, and most of them wore skirts over the greaves.

Skianous In reply to 13thprotector [2014-02-15 15:30:52 +0000 UTC]

It may have something to do with the fact that the Imperial Dynasty from Skyrim (the Mede emperors) differs from the Septim dynasty that ruled over Tamriel in the time of Morrowind ?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

13thprotector In reply to Skianous [2014-02-17 16:42:27 +0000 UTC]

I still liked the older armors better, Septim and all that, it was cooler sets that could mix and match and seeing different imperial soldiers wearing swapped out armors most of the time really brought some realism to it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Skianous In reply to 13thprotector [2014-02-17 17:12:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the Legion in Skyrim lacks diversity, even if I like the look of their armors. There should have been more heavy-armored soldiers on the roads, and more diversity in the races; the Legion has soldiers from all around the continent, but the basic legionnaires are all male Nords and Imperials :/

13thprotector In reply to Skianous [2014-02-17 20:09:48 +0000 UTC]

Aye, skyrim lacked that culture that Morrowind held as an rpg. Though, I can say the armor all looked well, I still like old ebony and old imperial, things like Dwemer and Orcish, I'd say have been improved.

Love the shield, but Light armor while not looking as "bad Assed" is superior for an army that needs to be mobile, silent and have strength for battle, this was the main advantage the dominion had in the great war allowing their smaller numbers pose a serious threat to the superior forces of the empire, it is also one of the advantages the Stormcloaks have in Skyrim.. though the empire has started to wise up and field light armor there.

Some factors about heavy armor that don't make it into the game are how much it restricts movement and how long it takes to put on (about 10 minutes and usually help is needed)

I think the Stormcloak benefit mostly from the fact that they have a very good knowledge of the land they fight in, which helps using guerilla warfare and favours the use of light armor. Also, the Nords have a starting bonus in LA, as opposed to the Imperials who are more proficient (game wise) with heavy armors.

theBEARDEDcanuck In reply to Skianous [2014-02-15 16:04:47 +0000 UTC]

Starting racial bonuses are so low they don't even factor into the equation, and besides the legion is muti-racial

I'd say look at the unperked values to judge.

light armor is less weight to carry first off, also it doesn't hamper your speed as much and don't forget stamina loss in heavy armor is doubled meaning soldiers in light armor will be able to swing their weapons 2x harder than those in heavy

Yeah, light armor is very useful and, coupled with Alteration spells, it has all the advantages of a heavy one :3

That's what I did for my Redguard spellsword. Kicks major asses.

Kinda ironic to walk around with a dragonhead on your shield, only to get burned alive if his patrol happened to come upon a random dragon encounter.
