Description Tis seems that Darkwing Ducky is taking advantage of the Conrail GP40 coming through downtown Burlington I drew a piccie of the old train station that is at the end of West Broad Street near where it intersects with Keim Street. The original station that was built in the 1850's was at the corner of West Broad and High Streets. The Camden & Amboy Railroad Line not only goes right down the middle of Broad Street, but is the oldest line in the US, if not North America. The C&A replaced the old stage coach that ran between Camden and Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Today the portion of the C&A that runs in between Camden and Trenton is used by not only for heavy frieght trains but for the New Jersey Transit's RiverLINE [link] This is a wee clip of what High and Broad Streets looks like and the Hotel to the left is the Metropolitan Inn where they say that Abraham Lincoln always took a train from Illinois and Washington DC to stay at the Hotel to visit his friend General Ulysis S. Grant

Conrail is now owned by CSX and Norfolk and Southern Corp and the Burlington line is what they call "shared assets" between the two rail corps but still nice to see those old Conrail Quality GP40's coming through town

Thank you so very much for your compliments!! I really appreciate them! I do enjoy adding lots of wee details to a background, but I do need lots of practice with characters! Me hoping in the future :iconladtariaa: can help me with drawing of characters.

Aww, yuppers I did spend a wee bit of time over the Labour Day Weekend with and she was instructing me on some her techniques on drawing characters. I rely too much on screenies to get me through. Hands are the hardest!! Me coworker gave me a cartoon hand model sheet even with that, I still have a rough time!

Alot always has trouble with the hands. For me, it is the legs. I always end up giving them the wrong shape.

The amount of detail in this is just incredible!!
All you need is just a little shadow work.
You have a real eye for detail,I am very envious of you for that!
AWESOME piece, keep up the great art!!
Can't wait to see some color on this!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LordNegaduck In reply to DARGON1 [2009-10-27 03:31:32 +0000 UTC]

Oh wow!! Thank You So Very Much!! The Ducky really appreciates your complements!! Yuppers, the Ducky does indeed need some shadowing, but I have to learn how to do that. Another thing, I have to learn how to do is Adobe Photoshop. I have the Elements Adobe Photoshop and and gave me a crash course in it, but I just couldn't get all those layers down Maybe one day

Aww, you do have a real eye for detail too The Ducky admires all those dragons ya expertly draw They are gorgeous!!

DARGON1 In reply to LordNegaduck [2009-11-03 04:08:21 +0000 UTC]

Shading is not that hard...just follow the light. What is not Directly seen in light, will be shadowed. Also shadows can be used to help create a 3-D effect.
I can help you some with shading,if you like.
I know nothing of Photo shop though....

Now your just trying to make me feel good....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LordNegaduck In reply to DARGON1 [2009-11-04 03:53:02 +0000 UTC]

I would so love for ya to show me how to properly shadow!! That would be so awesome!! Thank You So Very Much!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DARGON1 In reply to LordNegaduck [2009-11-11 05:42:16 +0000 UTC]

Then may I "down load" A pic you have drawn, you pic which one...and Shade it? I will write notes on it to show where to look and how it is down. And then Upload the finished piece,in scraps if you like, and give full credit to you of course!
This way,I think I can not only show you how to look for shadows, but also give you a working diagram to go by. It would be much easier than trying to explain it.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LordNegaduck In reply to DARGON1 [2009-11-11 18:50:10 +0000 UTC]

Sure!!! Take any piccie ya like! The Ducky would be very much honoured!!! Yes Ya know the Ducky all to well there I always need to be shown by diagrams Aww, Thank You so much for all of your help!!! The Ducky really appreciates that so very much!!

DARGON1 In reply to LordNegaduck [2009-11-11 19:47:40 +0000 UTC]

Very good! Then I shall have a look and surprise you with what I pick! I am not the greatest with shading, but I do feel that I might can help you.And will be sure to give as much detail noting as possible.
LOL!! Perhaps "Diagrams" was the wrong word....but I think you know what I mean.

OH YOU ARE SO THE BEST!! You are the greatest at everything ya do!! I so can't wait to see it!! There is one piccie in me gallery that I have been meaning to do over I look at that Roebling piccie now and ask meself, "Ducky were ya drunk when ya drew that? Then I seem to be remembering that I was at Louies So, after ya pick a piccie and do your shading The Ducky's plan is to redo the Roebling piccie and do some shading with that piccie

Wait, did ya say Diagram or Diaphragm? Ya are going to show the VIRGIN DUCKY Diaphragms?

DARGON1 In reply to LordNegaduck [2009-11-11 20:47:48 +0000 UTC]

LordNegaduck In reply to DARGON1 [2009-11-20 03:22:00 +0000 UTC]

Well lets just say that Quackerjack is insane and it always one step away from being put in a padded cell But he is so funny and he's got lots of fans though Check out he's got lots of great Quacky art

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DARGON1 In reply to LordNegaduck [2009-11-24 05:05:35 +0000 UTC]

This is very true, but that is why he is so lovable and relatable!
Sort of like the Joker from Bat Man....Pure evil, but just so Damn fun to be around!'

Silverwolf-1ofmany [2009-10-26 19:03:19 +0000 UTC]

This is AWESOME!! The details on the locomotive are amazing and the cab is just perfect! I'd love a ride on a Conrail GP40. The only ex-Con loco I've been for a ride in was a CSX C40-8W.

BTW, I see six axles! Could this actually be an SD40?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LordNegaduck In reply to Silverwolf-1ofmany [2009-10-27 03:55:30 +0000 UTC]

Yes, you are correct I will have to change that! I had to go back to Burlington Yard to make sure that I sketched the locomotive correctly The Ducky did get to ride in some Conrail GP40's at Hudson Yard in Phillipsburg and on our way to Milford It was pretty amazing!! The Black River used a lot of GP40s along the Belvidere and Delaware River Line, but they use GP9s on the Black River and Western Line between Ringoes and Flemington...tis such a short run anyways. I keep hoping they get the Steam Engine up and running again And I REALLY PRAY that the fix up the tracks to Lambertville City so we can again take excursions down there...tis especially pretty in the fall

Oh wow!! Really? A C40-8W? I really love those locomotives!! GE They really have cool fronts!! I have never riden in those locomotives, I only see those on the mainlines.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silverwolf-1ofmany In reply to LordNegaduck [2009-10-29 21:23:57 +0000 UTC]

We have SOOOO many C40-8W's down here, want some? The cabs are air-conditioned, it's nice.

LordNegaduck In reply to Silverwolf-1ofmany [2009-10-31 02:15:02 +0000 UTC]

REALLY And A/C too? All the time I worked on the BR&W, we have NEVER had a cab equipped with A/C

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Silverwolf-1ofmany In reply to LordNegaduck [2009-11-21 11:27:46 +0000 UTC]

Yep, we even had a GP39-2 (4302) last month with A/C

Sorry about my laaaaate comment! But better late than never, eh?

I already loved the piccie when ya showed it to me in your email and of course I am - like always - amazed by all the details on the background and the train I'm especially proud of ya for drawing Darkwing Duck's pose since it looks really great The effort was worth it

*reading the other comments* And yes, some day you should learn to colour with Photoshop... I will teach you!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LordNegaduck In reply to aluchen [2009-10-27 04:01:13 +0000 UTC]

Well when ya come to Burlington City in the Summer ya can show the Ducky how to colour on me own Photoshop Elements since mine is a wee different then yours Aww, thank you so very much for your complements and the Ducky really appreciates them so very much!!! I can't tell ya how much the Ducky practiced on Darkwing Ducky

Wow, amazing job! I love the immense detail to the train and buildings, you have some great talent! And of course I love how DW looks, you did wonderfully! Do you intend to color it?

LordNegaduck In reply to The-Lady-of-Kuo [2009-10-26 02:57:22 +0000 UTC]

Aww Thank You So Much for your complements!!! Darkwing looks like he is lost in thought As Always, right? Aww, Unfortunatley, I can't colour it I have no idea how to colour Maybe one day, I learn how to use the Adobe Photoshop From the looks of it, tis looks like ya need a PHD to operate it!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

The-Lady-of-Kuo In reply to LordNegaduck [2009-10-26 03:47:22 +0000 UTC]

Aww you wrote the word "color" with a U in it, I bet it's influence from your honey, that's sweet. ^_^ Yeah photoshop is so hard, I struggle with it to no end. I'll bet you'll master it sooner than later though, especially with your very talented girlfriend at your side!
Great work on the train details though, really! I never have such patience with inanimate objects, I'm very impressed!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LordNegaduck In reply to The-Lady-of-Kuo [2009-10-26 03:56:06 +0000 UTC]

Actually, I have been spelling words like neighbour, colour, favour, honour, a wee while before I met I guess, tis seeing it all the time when conversing with me Canadian Friends, and Friends over seas Actually, I kind of prefer the Oxford English And coming from Trenton, New Jersey the main street that intersects the street I live on and grew up on, Lalor Street is Centre Street

Ya really think the Ducky can master Adobe Photoshop? and have both tried to show me I get so confused on all those layers and stuff

Thank You so very much on your complements on the train I guess I am more of a background artist then a character artist, but your draw backgrounds so very well and with incredible talent!! I so love your backgrounds and your piccies always tell a story!! I so love that!! I am so impressed with your incredible talent!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

MrMinos [2009-10-25 15:33:26 +0000 UTC]

LordNegaduck In reply to MrMinos [2009-10-25 15:58:56 +0000 UTC]

Thank You So very much for your complement!! The Ducky really appreciates that!! For some reason, I was always able to draw buildings and stuff, just when it comes to characters, I have a very rough time. I just need more practice drawing characters I guess, but I guess ya can say that the Ducky is more of a background artist

I have seen your backgrounds and they are as Goslayn would say "MAJOR LEAGUE IMPRESSIVE!! I am always impressed with your piccies
