Description Izzy and Naya from Insomniac's new game FUSE, wearing some choice attire from another EA game starring the same voice actresses, Jennifer Hale and Ali Hillis.

The best lines in the game was from a brief conversation between Naya, Dalton (the stereotypical gruff bad@$$ that is boring) and Izzy.

Dalton: I love watching you climb, Naya.

Naya: Izzy, if Dalton is staring at my ass, you have my permission to shoot him.

Begin Game Review/Rant.

FUSE is a neat game i first saw a trailer for when it was called Overstrike 9. back then, it looked irreverent and funny with crisp colors and a nice take on squad based combat. FUSE changed that by making it a bit grittier and a more serious tone to the overall game. Either way, i was looking forward to it, especially after learning the two main women on the team were voiced by greats from Mass Effect and other video games.

its a very simplistic 3rd person shooter with the added effect of switching between squad mates within real time. This is great, however, the game never really goes over how you're really supposed to use this to the best of your abilities. I've gone through almost the entire game playing one character and its only at the end where switching members is a skill that's needed more so than ever.

my only guff with the game is actually what i usually find in other squad based games. Your AI teammates are idiots. And there are no controls whatsoever to make them in the slightest bit less dumb. Not useful, just less dumb. now i could go online and play with friends or complete strangers to add to my experience, but i shouldn't be punished for playing a single player experience without multiplayer aid.

oh well, i'll still enjoy the game but with a touch of disappointment.

UPDATE 06/13: so....finished FUSE, finally. apparently what they hid from people is that this game is a third person shooter GRIND game. its meant to be. you're suppose to grind through the meat locker portion of the game to level up, then to get all of the achievements (should you so choose) you MUST play multiplayer, no if, ands or buts.

the story had merit...for a while. then i finally finished it....and the influences of EA must've struck again because, like the original Mass Effect 3 ending, its was filled with HUH? and WTF?

its a fun game, but if its this half-assed for an overall experience. probably best to play with friends but its the finding friends who bought this game as well is going to be the hardest part.

i'll probably keep FUSE, but this game could've been a lot better.

End Game Review/Rant.

likewise, from more in-game humor to just the overall execution of the story.  it had potential, but alas not a lot of attention given to the right details to make this more than a mediocre game.

Wow... really? why did they think a shooter needed grinding? Just because it kinda-sorta works in moderation for true shooter-RPG hybrids like Borderlands, doesn't mean it can be shoved into a bland shooter to extend its lifespan...

yeah, its a dumb idea for a fairly easy going game.

sooo much potential, sooo poorly executed.

Mm, I'd heard the shitty AI and enemies with too much health/too many buddies also made it a bit of a slog.

i dunno, i didn't expect much going in, and i have to see it's pretty much. For to have fun doesn't require a AAA budget and story.. my only grip is the lighting..it's well..bland... besides that i love the mobility! anyways, very awesome pic
