Description
Goddess of death, mourning, funerals and healing, Nephthys is the youngest daughter of Geb and Nut and the sister of Osiris, Isis and Set and also married to latter. Despite being the wife of Set she does not assist him in his villainous activities and the two do not have the same loving relationship that Osiris and Isis do and, in fact, when Isis attempts to resurrect Osiris after Set murdered him Nephthys is the one who helps her showing her loyalty to her sister rather than her husband. Nephthys can be seen as an inverted goddess to her sister displaying dark (but necessary) attributes in contrast to Isis' light, maintaining a Yin Yang-like balance between the two (though, in truth, the myths tend to portray her like more of a sidekick than an equal).

Her symbol is the sacred temple enclosure and she is associated with the kite hawk.
