A LAS ESTRELLAS

Reina el silencio: fúlgidas en tanto
Luces de paz, purísimas estrellas,
De la noche feliz lámparas bellas,
Bordáis con oro su luctuoso manto.

Duerme el placer, mas vela mi quebranto,
Y rompen el silencio mis querellas,
Volviendo el eco, unísono con ellas,
De aves nocturnas el siniestro canto.

¡Estrellas, cuya luz modesta y pura
Del mar duplica el azulado espejo!
Si a compasión os mueve la amargura

Del intenso penar por que me quejo,
¿Cómo para aclarar mi noche oscura
No tenéis ¡ay! ni un pálido reflejo?

I studied this poem when I was still in hight school, in spanish class and I liked it a lot. I don't really speak spanish and now it even become hard for me to understand it, but I still remember this poem and its title always made me dream, I founded it so nice... I won't translate it in english nor would I translate it in french cause I'll do a desastre and what's important about a poem (for me) it is its musicality. I'll only tell you that "estrellas" means "stars".
Anyway, this is not my usual style but I wanted to paint something different, less detached from reality...
Again, the scan killed a bit the color cause I used an yellow underlayer which made green reflections on the blue paint, but my scanner has got some difficulties to render the different shades of green.
Well, let me know what you think of it.
