I think the reason people compare this to Amy Brown is that:
1. The fairy has an overall colour scheme (yellow hair/eyes, yellow/red wings)
2. The wings are prominently displayed from a side angle
3. The wings are darker at their extreme edges
4. The use of an evening rooftop as a setting
But anyway.
The eyes are great, and I adore that hair.
The only change I might suggest would be to darken the rooftop, give it more texture and shadows so that her wings are not the only dark thing in the picture. This would make the image more balanced, and provide more visual interest with the contrast between it and her pale skin and the pale sky.

You are probably right about the comparison... but that is how I imagine fairies... the evening rooftop came from the beautyfull church I have just in front of my home (I live in a very small place and the church was built in the 13th centuary, and it has got wonderfull gargoyles on its roof), and I won't change the rooftop color cause I manage to get the true color of this church's wall, which is sandy, even if you might be right about the contrast. But I like it the way it is...
Thank you for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it.

thank you! you are not the first one to tell me that it is amy brown inspired but not at all, in fact I must have seen her work once, years ago and never since, maybe we have the same muse, I really don't know...
Anyway, I take it as a compliment!
Thanks again.

beautiful and delicate coloring. Also a bit startling when you realize the eyes are not those of a happy nymph

Well... I never know how to take those sort of comments, they are several ways to understand it:
-first, as an accusation as if you wanted to say "oh look what a shame, you copied another artist!!"
-second, just as a simple constatation.... Well, not very interesting...
-and thirdly, as a sort of compliment, I could paint as well as Amy Brown...
Anyway, I don't know very well what you wanted to say but I suerely did not copied Amy brown at all ( Might have visited her gallerie once when I was 15, and that's very far away), I just went to re-visit it after reading your comment to check if this was really amy Brown-like but I don't really see where if you exept the gargoyle...
Well, I do not have to justify my work but I wanted to say that they are not so many different ways to paint fairies and that Amy Brown, even if she is a great artist, do not have the corner of them all.
That is to say that this sort of comment are very disturbing for the artist and minimizing their work. You do not spend a lot of time on a peice to hear a while after that it is not your proper style and that you do not own the merit of it.
Maybe you could tell me what you think in a more constructive comment.

That's some amazing work with watercolours! The wings are my favourite part, they're so beautiful. ^^ And her eyes are paralyzing.

Thank you very much! I wanted to do nice but unusual wings that could also be a warning like those animals or insects that have bright colors to warn that they are poisonous or dangerous, even if they are the most beautifull. I wasn't sure about the spotty bit but it was an impulsion so I fallowed it. I wanted to gave her a feline look to enforce the idea of danger.
Thanks again!!!

Whoa, that's pretty cool. I love the detail in the wings and the hair, and the eyes are really eerie. I like that gargoyle she's holding on to, it really gives the scene an angle with everying moving away from it. Nice work.

thank you very much! I really appreciate your comment as this is the first piece I consider as well finished (don't know if you understand what I mean...), I dindn't spend so much time on it but it was the first time I had the impression of using well my media (wich is watercolors), so I'm glad you like it!
