UPDATE!!!
[September 12, 2009]: I've spend the last few days just looking at this piece, moreover the center area. The way the lighting in the nebula cloud was not realistic, so I thought I would replace it with a new nebula and rework it and to my surprise it came out very well. I'm even more satisfied with this piece now, but I feel as if I'll always be improving it.

[September 4, 2008]: I don’t think I’m ever going to be 100% satisfied with this piece, but it’s getting better. I’m liking this version more than the last and hey I may for the fourth damn time rework it if I grow tired of it. This piece is always going to be a learning tool for me, that’s why it graces my front page. So enjoy this rework. Thank you.

[January 10, 2008]:Finally, after such a long time I was able to rework on this piece that amazing as it was, there were many mistakes I made that I wanted to rectify. So here you have it, the revamped version of The Road to Caelum, closer to the vision I had when I originally started creating it. So please take some time to look it over and I hope you enjoy this touch-up. Thank you.

[March 9, 2007]: Well this piece is called The Road to Caelum. I first want to say that I may have said that I would not be able to work on this piece for at least another week [from a few days ago], but my schedule changed dramatically leaving me a good amount of time to work on it. This piece is meant to be the follow-up of Genesis. I wanted this piece to include a terrain stock within it as I was not able to blend one in well with Genesis forcing me to scrap that part. I was stunned at the final size of the Photoshop file for this piece as it is a whopping 163 megabytes. I also wanted to work with asteroids on this piece as I didn’t use them in Genesis at all and I’ve been meaning to try my hand at an asteroid field.

A few ending notes I have to say is that this was a really big challenge for me and I feel even more confident working with large scale pieces and this piece really showed me patience as I had to repeatedly re-work many parts that didn’t fit right, which was frustrating at first, but worth it. Also I uploaded a higher resolution Jpeg file which will allow this piece to be clear as a print. Thank you.

Oh my god...this picture makes me so happy. The artwork of course is beautiful - but the CONTENT... It's like everything I ever love, all in one picture. I freaking LOVE space, and there is nothing better in life than a long unending road (and a set of wheels of some kind you can take down it forever and ever). The combination of these two, and the feel that this road almost leads upward to the vast expanse of the cosmos, is just sheer bliss for my eyes.

Its ok. I mean it: Not bad, but also not great.
1. First, maybe it's me, but you can definitely see the clouds filter, and that's a bit too common.
2. The space scene is a bit extreme, and it doesn't blend at all with the road.
3.The transition from the road photo to the extreme explosion is too quick. I would suggest making the sky of the road photo more reddish, then add some stars and blend it with the space scene a bit more.
Those are the cons, but here are the pros:
1. Unique perspective. It's a great idea for an art piece, seriously.
2. The concept is great and fits nicely with the road photo.
All in all, it's not bad, but could use some work.

The quickness to it was the intention, and although I agree with your comments, I left out one note, this piece when created was me taking what I knew and learned about my abilities at the time and just combining them into something big. The main reasons it sits on my front page because I was satisfied and it showed me that I should keep at it. Thank you.
