Description Description:
Unholy abominations, Rotwalkers are the name given to the creatures that spawn from the ruins of Nymphos. They are a corruption of life, an affront to Idunn's order. A combination of rotting flesh, wood, scattered limbs and broken bones; rotwalkers prowl the desolate fields of nymphos killing everything in their path, but remaining dormant should nothing living be found. They are trapped in the ruins of Nymphos, as a great wall has been built around the edges of the crater, where a battalion of pyromancers remains ready to kill any rotwalkers that try to get out.
Displaying a disturbing resourcefulness that scholars refuse to call intelligence, rotwalkers have on some occations merged with one another, attempting to climb out of their pit and hopefully spread beyond their region. Such attempts have not been successful thus far.
Mindless and violent, Rotwalkers seek only to gather biomass in order to expand their numbers and spread like a cancer throughout the Lands of Dunn.
Disturbingly, some rotwalkers are able to use the voices of the deceased to draw out their prey. Cries for help, screaming, moaning and wailing have been documented thus far. On occasions they have also been observed to fight each other, brutally dismembering themselves before cannibalizing each other.

Origins:
Early in the second Era when the Rat King's Army laid siege to the capital city of Nymphos, there was a great divine tree that provided abundant light to the lands around it. This gigantic tree was the target of the Rat King, who sought to destroy everything that the Goddess Idunn had blessed. Thus, as his accursed army breached the city gates and the knights of Nymphos were overrun, the Rat King sent his horde of rodents to gnaw on the roots of the great tree, causing the great collapse. The Tree fell into the sea, losing its glow as the Rat King achieved a victory over Idunn's forces , plunging the south eastern lands into a dense darkness.
Disease quickly spread throughout the region, and many abhorrent monsters would start to appear in the wilderness, turning the lands of Nymphos into a desolate wasteland in a matter of months. But as the tree rotted in the sea and the corpses of the people of nymphos festered, new accursed life emerged...
It is unknown what exactly triggered their birth, but necromancy has been the main theory for centuries, leading to strong and violent repercussions for anyone practicing the dark arts throughout the land.

Containment:
As the horde of undead grew dangerously close to the surrounding lands, the Kings of the neighboring kingdoms established defensive perimeters around Nymphos, pushing back against the horde of rotwalkers as much as they could. However, for every soldier they lost, the horde of the unliving grew more and more. Thus, as a last resort, the daughters of Idunn were roused from their slumber, an act that is considered high blasphemy which led to the dethronement of 4 Lords.
---------
"By Order of King Radamanthus, the lands of Nymphos are to be considered lost. All efforts to fight back against them have been in vain. The horde of undead must not be allowed to escape. It is because of this that the Order of Kings shall attempt to awaken the daughters of our Goddess Idunn, to hopefully put an end to this great evil, an act that will surely lead to the removal of our authority and possibly our deaths. Regardless, the will of Idunn's offspring is sacred and true. May Rainne and Eyr have mercy on us all..."
---------
As their last resort, the Kings themselves travelled to the Draconian Citadel, and pleaded before the Goddesses Rainne and Eyr for deliverance. They roused them from their slumber and drew their ire, but their final tears moved them to action. Thus under a sky darkened by Vho'Daresh's hunger, Rainne and Eyr both flew towards the city of Nymphos. From high in the sky, they danced in a righteous display of flame, creating a fireball so large that it mimicked the dead suns of past realities; reincarnated as a fiery spell of destruction and holy retribution. Thus on that day a great explosion abruptly shook the lands of Dunn, sending shockwaves to the most distant parts of creation as the great fireball struck Nymphos with reckless abandon.
This explosion was so large and so powerful, that it burned away everything in its wake until Nymphos became nothing but a desolate, blackened wasteland covered by ash and smoke. All rotwalkers were not destroyed however, as some managed to survive deep underground. To this day Nymphos is but a crater, closely monitored by the surrounding lands for any rotwalker activity. For the the undead never sleep, and one day the horde might resurge...
