Description September 2010

Technical stuff: Watercolour, acrylics and coloured pencils. Slightly larger than A3 format. 32x50 cm / 13,5x21 in. Lots and lots of hours.

And now some poetry:

Distant ocean to lonely shore
My reach is vast, forever more
Fragile peace however drowned
when curious man the ocean found
By harbour docks you safely moor
But something calls, out to explore

You venture far, come success or fail
Returning home with a many tale
Lured, enchanted, invoked your fear
My legions tell me, many eye and ear
Fools and dreamers, you’re off the rail
You defy the danger, ahead you sail

No prayer will help, no becalming me
Angry tempest my gift to thee
The gale above, the foaming wave
That rival below, this is your grave
There is no mercy, no justice be
My rule and domain, I am the sea

Got to challenge myself you know and motion is always one of those things I lag behind on. (At least that's how I feel) Size was a challenge too this time. Never had a watercolour painting that large. Good for cramming in the details but not so good for my back.

Well... in that case you may start to look forward to a new big pencil piece. My ideas in colour are to an end, it's time to return to greyscale.

Marvelous work Louise! The water is just... is just... I can't find words to descripe it but it looks really good.

You have illustrated both her and her "minions" well.

A sun? I suspect you refer to the "I am"-painting?

Hehe... Got to add a few minions of the Sea. The mandatory tentacles (giant octopus perhaps?) were an easy choice of course, and I had so many ideas for the other ones but only a few actually fitted the image. Still... glad you liked it. Thank you.

That was indeed the one where I was refering to.

Now that you have done the "Fire" and the Sea the next ones could be the Earth and the Wind. Then all the elements would be there. And I am sure you could make up similarly wonderfull poems to each of them.

Actually... I think you might be on to something here. That's not a bad idea, especially since I've already more or less unconciously worked through the first two. I never thought of that before. Thank you, Panu, for adding stuff to the "future ideas"-pile

Always happy to increse the idea piles of others too. You have given me some great ideas (especially one passionate poet) so it's nice to know that I can return the favor. And by no means I am not "demanding" you to do them. Only if you find them inspirating that is.

Haha... Yes, the passionate poet was a lucky fluke wasn't it?
And no, you're not demanding. At most you've only set fire to my already overheated head

We'll see what happens in the future as there are a few things in queue to take care of first. Also, it'd give me some time to think about 'air', which probably is going to be the trickier of the two remaining elements.

Vattenfärger är ett medium jag är helt lost på. Vågsvallet, skummet, muränan gillar jag allra bäst. Ja allt är ju bra. Tutorialen gjorde mig lite nyfiken på vattenfärg oxå . Jag förstår att det måste ha tagit ordentligt med tid.

Jag tror nog också muränan var blev bäst av gänget. Den blev mer brandorange än mer rostbrun, som jag först tänkt mig, men det gör inget. Det blev bra ändå

Nu är jag väldigt dålig på att räkna i mindre enheter än 'dagar' men ungefär 25-30 timmar får man nog räkna med för denna gång.

Be warned... vattenfärg är ett kul medium men det finns ingen behändig ctrl-Z-funktion. Går det åt skogen så är det åt skogen sedan Kul i alla fall att jag kunde göra dig nyfiken.

Ja, jag satt och tecknade(på jobbet, upps!) häromdagen. Vid ett tillfälle tänkte jag faktiskt: -Undo! Nä just det ja; det fungerar ju inte IRL. Sånt sitter i ryggraden märker man när man skiftar medium.

Hehe... Många av mina senaste ideer har faktiskt fötts under händelselösa dagar på jobbet

På sätt och vis är det tur att jag inte målar/tecknar digitalt. Att behöva tänka "undo" när man har en riktig penna i handen verkar lite farligt (och underligt).

Samtidigt är det en möjlighet som gör det mycket lättare att i vilken fas som helst pröva nya ideer och experimentera utan att riskera att förstöra något man investerat mycket tid och energi i. Men alla medium har sina för- och nackdelar.
