Im using a Nikon D70s..
Its more because of my lense that i catch focus on the wron object, most of the time for shooting animals, im using my sigma 170-500mm lense, which can be very hard to steady, and at 500mm nearly impossible to use without a tripod, or at least a monopod...

Oh, hmm. I think if my camera decided to do something like that I'd shake it till it died. Sounds like focal range is too tight or your auto focus is being dumb. lol like I know anything, just thought I'd throw that out there.
