My doggies were disqualified from the show, because the judge thought the artwork was stolen from another artist ><
Apparently, one of her favourite artists paints similar work, and when she saw it was a print on canvas, with a watermark, thought it was that artists work! ><
She also said you couldn't get any prints on stretched canvas (A Derm mount I think she called it) in Townsville of that size, (as if that somehow also meant it wasn't legitimate? I don't understand her point there).... but... she's wrong...Harvey Norman and Office works both send to Sydney for those... so... that wasn't really a fair indicator either, she just didn't know about the print services available, so... somehow that means something?
She actually wanted to know where I got it printed, and was going to call them to confirm that I had in fact gotten the work printed there. I don't know if they'd even tell her O0 (I don't mind if they do) but that's kind of.. uncalled for, isn't it? Do photographers have to show the original film of their work before it's called legit?
Sadly, it was judged on Sunday, I only found out this afternoon, and its too late to rectify for this year
So, this picture which was a LOT of work to get ready for this years show. First the time to paint it, research to get it printed at this size, going to Townsville to pick it up after a week, then it was a bad quality so AGAIN submitting, waiting and another trip to Townsville, JUST for this one image....
.....
And then it was disqualified, because something about where it was printed was significant to the judge, and she couldn't/didn't just ask if i could prove I'd done the work....
WHY didn't they just ask me?
