Nice atmosphere you've created there.

Thanks, the one thing which Twisted Insurrection brough back for me was that old feeling of a (beautiful) Tiberium wasteland. I really wanted to capture the dark, almost post-apocalyptic feel of it.

Well you've certainly done that. Oh and thank you for the kind words regarding TI, our mappers have certainly done their best to continue the otherworldly atmosphere set by TS.

Wait a second ... you are part of the TI team! HOLY VIRGIN!
Anyhow, now that I have calmed down, I really like the maps. They are so far-reaching. Even straightforward "go from point A to point B" escort missions have large maps with areas you don't even need to reach to fulfill the objectives. I like exploring these, with all the town ruins and flora being consumed by tiberium. They really are very atmospheric when combined with the soundtrack. Maybe I will find some crafty secret one day.

I did not expect so many secret tips. I will probably forget them but it is nice to know my curiosity will payoff in the game.
Nice work on the vehicles, though I expected the Titan would be making a comeback. He is somewhat of an iconic unit for me from Tiberian Sun. However, I do love how many various vehicles there are in Twisted Insurrection. So many more deployable, hover craft and even mech units with high-tech weaponry. I love that, aside from looking cool they open up new tactical possibilities.

Thanks for mentioning me!
I probably mentioned this before but over time I came to side with Nod a lot more then the GDI, so it's cool to see them (Nod) bringing that smack down on the man. Particularly like the soldier gesturing to someone off screen, like there's a whole battalion of Noddies ready to move in and wreck up the GDI's sh#t . Colors are as good as always and the design of the soldier is spot on, really captures the futuristic cultist look Nod was rocking in the last few games.
Great work.

Well this actually was because of you. Thanks to the talk about strategies I actually found some cool C&C mods. Seems that this series is alive and well in the hands of the fans.
I never really knew with whom I should sympathize in C&C. That's what I liked about Tiberium Wars particularly, how both sides were not portrayed as being heroic or villainous in the end. Though I really like NOD as well, I wanted to combine the more rough guerrilla of militias from Tiberium Wars with the hi-tech look from Tiberian Sun. I did not really liked that they looked like black stormtroopers in TS but I also did not find it likely they would be able to operate in yellow zones without some serious gear. I mean really, they were running around in hoodies in Tiberium Wars which I've found a bit ridiculous.
Thus I created the futuristic cultist look, glad you like it.

Yeah, now you mention it, the Noddies running around with out protection right next to tiberium was a little weird. There were the Forgotten in Tiberium Sun (I think it was that one) who'd mutated due to the stuff, so maybe one could say people in Yellow Zones had generally mutated/adapted to be more tolerate of it. Still, we saw this stuff blow people up when they got to close it in some games, so yeah.
Admittedly the leadership of both sides got more and more shady as the games progressed, but the whole zone thing was one of the big factors making me root for Nod. GDI basically grabbed up all the best territory left for themselves while Nod did what they could for the poor sods left in the areas were the air could literally kill you...And the fact that Nod was always generally just cooler/more interesting then GDI.

That is actually another thing which bothered me in Tiberium Wars. The forgotten were ... forgotten. They were just turned into some little tech building to capture. I think a great opportunity for further characters and social commentary was missed there.
The thing I have always foundΒ sketchy with Nod is that when Kane disappears, everybody just starts fighting each other in the struggle for power. I guess that is the downside of operating in unstable Yellow zones and relaying solely on your (amazing) charisma and personality to inspire your faction.
I do prefer Nod in Tiberium Wars. Tiberian Sun had a sympathic group of commanders on both sides so that was a bit hard for me but Tiberium Wars did not really had any notable characters for GDI. I only remember the Nod field commander who talked to you in some missions. I loved that guy, he kinda represented the ordinary man of the yellow zone. I liked how he contemplated what is right and wrong when Kane disapeared and tried to figure out what was his true vision, especially in the face of Scrin invasion. It gave him character, rather than using him as some exposition book.
Damm, now I am sad the story was never really concluded, not with a satisfactory ending anyway ...

I think I stumbled on a fan made mod featuring the Forgotten declaring war on both sides. Overall you're right. Their badass leader was given a hand wave send off, featuring a two second shot of her apparently having gone crazy, and...that was kind of it for them.
I suppose GDI did have a lot more stability and unity to it, when Kane wasn't around. Guess it's a consequence of having a faction made up of everyone whose against the enemy, tend to get some differences of opinion. Almost think Kane pulls his little disappearing acts on purpose just to weed out some of the schemers.
The Nod support character was cool, and had a surprisingly good arc in the game. The way he kept getting more and more torn was really gripping. One scene in particular, when Kane and the general lady were demanding he pick one or the other to support and all he can say is "I just want what's best for Nod!"

Sadly, many of the characters were given such swift push back into the background or just being killed in a very anticlimactic fashion. I would have loved to see Anton Slavik as one of the commanders in Tiberium Wars. And GDI was really weak in terms of characters in Tiberium Wars. In Tiberian Sun you at least had commander McNeil with his team and the badass mutant leader Umagon. The only character worth a damm in TW was Redmond Doyle, the rich snobby dude who demonstrated how uptight, reserved and self-righteous GDI can be.
Yes, that was probably the best scene in Tiberium Wars. Kane's Wrath brought some more mystery back into the universe as well as more subfactions which made even GDI feel a bit diverse, I loved the Steel Talons faction. Sadly it was not really continued in more expanded character arcs despite the revival of cyborgs and walkers because then Tiberium Twilight came out and that was really not good. The problems of that game went beyond bad gameplay, I still get angry when remembering the "commander's wife".

Oh, Slavik, I'd forgotten just how unceremonious his send off was. This series has definitely had it's ups and downs. I can kinda see what they were going for with the wife, giving you someone outside the military you're meant to care about and give the commander a bit more character then a blank slate. But the problem is that was the whole point. The commander is a vessel for the player to project themselves onto and image their literally in this world. In that sense, I guess the wife could work for players that are married or dating, but everyone else just had this stepford wife hanging around getting in the way.

Yeah, there was potential in the wife character. It could have been a neutral insight into whichever faction you joined. There could have been some private scenes where you are alone with her and she would comment on the things you and your faction do and encourage you to do the right things. That way she could have influenced how players feel about their actions and their faction. This could have worked even more excelently if there were some alternative story choices in Tiberium Twilight, kinda like dropping or not dropping the liquid tiberium bomb at the end of Tiberium Wars.
However, like everything else, EA butchered it. the thing which took me away the most was how she constantly interrupted the briefings. Especially in Nod campaing. Seriously, like the enigmatic Kane would just step away and let this hysterical woman run around while he instructs one of his commanders. If he wouldn't have killed her he would at least sedate her.
Everytime I got at least a little bit immersed in the story, this happened and I just thought to myself: "What am I watching? This isn't C&C, this isn't the Kane I know!"

Agreed, I can actually imagine a chilling scene were Kane invokes Stalin after she causes the commander to question his actions one too many times.
To give that context, Stalin once had his assistant's wife executed, then reassuringly said to him 'Don't worry, we'll find you a knew one.'
