reminds me of studio CLAMP's Umi Ryuzaki from Maho Shoujo Rayearth, if drawn in a more realistic approach.

Love her beautiful, dreamy eyes and the soft color-style. <3
May I ask which program you used? (Sorry if you already answered this question somewhere, couldn't find it until now.)

i'm laughing so hard at all the over-defensive responses to this comment. why is everyone so mad?? i'm not a huge fan of photography but i think some of it is cool. same story. oh no! the photographers are coming after me in a huge angry mob, i've insulted an entire art community. i'm a misinformed uneducated carrier of prejudiced opinions!!
... sorry i really wanted to let that out...

I find your hate of the medium a bit narrow-minded, to be honest. Why not just see the image the artist has created, not the material it is made of? What makes an image made of pigments, coloured goop, wax crayons etc better or more desirable than an image made purely of colour, straight from the artist's mind?
You wouldn't insult another medium, but you see digital as lesser so it's fair game, why?
You don't see the originals of trad works here anyway, only photos or scans - digital is seeing it just how the artist made it (screen calibration aside ) in the perfect format for it! You can hate it, or embrace this wonderful new medium like all the people that actually understand it do.
I accept and respect your right to have a preference, but you wouldn't go around saying "ugh, I hate acrylic, you should use watercolours!" now, would you

By the way, I appreciate the fact that although my comment may have offended you or seemed stupid, you weren't aggresive in how you handled it. You calmly stated your opinion, point, and example very nicely and maturely. You made it pleasent talking with you, though the subject may not have been the most pleasent. Thanks for being a good debater!!!

Jeez, I didn't think this would be a hot topic....OK, let me get this straight: I like the RESULT better. And don't get me wrong, there are exceptions. Just browse my favs. I do like a lot of digital pieces, but they have to be quite extraordinary for me to fav them. I appreciate the passion these folks have been expressing toward my original comment, but I want to make it known that I am not ignorant, narrow-minded, or biased, I only have my preferences. Most everyone has a style they prefer over another, or a subject being done, or whatever. This is just my preference.
Appreciate the debate!

Oh wow, you HATE digital painting? such a profound feeling for something so petty. You think the pc does everything? well guess what? I do every scrap of painting with a fricken MOUSE!!! tell me how I don't slave over my work?? I'm so sick of narrow minded individuals who undermine our hard work, effort and passion just because of the medium we use. We respect the traditional artists yet you don't respect us. You make me sick.

Oh, i KNOW the toils over the mouse. That is some tough work. But like I've repeated, I simply prefer the latter's outcome. Not always, don't get me wrong, a great example is the piece of art I originally commented on, but usually the results just aren't my taste. Get what I'm poking at? And I don't mean to make anyone sick, I'm sure an advil or some pepto can provide some fast relief.

the telling me you hate my medium is just pathetic, if you prefer traditional then say so. Don't say shit you know you will regret later.

mermaidmusic In reply to wraithbaby [2008-05-29 17:22:40 +0000 UTC]
I didn't know I would regret it later and I still don't. I'm sorry I offended so many of you with a simple phrase but I still stand by what I like, whether you like it or not. Would it have been "nicer" of me to say Strongly dislike in the place of hate? No matter what I said of the matter, it would've raised offence. I'm not going to tell you what to like. You could have said the same thing about traditional art, and I wouldn't have liked it but I would have respected that you have your preferences. I've said my peace, and I'll be done with it.

hey I'm a traditional artist too, actually, I love all mediums. And I wont tolerate prejudices. yes you said the wrong thing because you have no reason to HATE digital. Everyone has different taste, just try to be more objective the next time you say something like that. Its quite offensive, let alone annoying.

ok, but i'm not being prejudice, although what i said sounded like it. I do apologize that what i said gave the wrong impression.
