Description A pontianak is a type of Malay ghost of a woman who died during childbirth and becomes the undead.

According to the story, the Pontianak resides in banana trees that grow near houses. She appears as a beautiful and seductive woman, usually accompanied with the strong perfume of frangipani, and upon capture of her prey (usually unwary men or pregnant women), she turns into a hideous hag and kills them.

However, if one wishes to capture this beautiful spirit to make her a wife (don't underestimate how desperate some people can be), a red string can be tied or inserted (using needles) into the banana trees's heart/fruit/blossom and the other end tied to the person's window. However, if the string is ever severed, the pontianak will be released and kill her captor.

I wanted to capture the moment when she realized that someone is attempting to capture her. However.. the strings are not tied tightly enough..

Ohmigosh, she's beautiful! Normally in the movies, the pontianaks have long black hair covering their whole faces and dressed in dirty white. I never knew they're supposed to be beautiful and seductive! (Maybe because I never actually watched a scary movie-.-')

Love the flowing of her gown

Pontianak myth also existed in Indonesia. Even there is a capital province named Pontianak here, I kid you not.

This is just sooo amazing! I can't stop looking at it even though I know she's a ghost.

In my country, Indonesia we also have the same ghosts. Indonesia and Malaysia are really close in map, so there's no wonder we share the same ghosts. But in my country it's called Kuntilanak, while Pontianak is the name of a city. LOL.

Nice. Bit childish though... facial expression good, greenery/sky good, but that brown wavy stuff/her dress or hair.. I think it's too much. It's taking the true message away from the picture, it's occupying 80% of the scene.

In Indonesia, she's called "Kuntilanak" and the only way to capture her (yes, there ARE men who desperate enough to do these kind of thing) is to knock a nail on her head. They say when she turn into a human, she'd be a really perfect woman, very beautiful and gentle. Anyway, even if she turned back, she wouldnt kill her childs and husband.

And owh, I just love ur art~
She's very beautiful~

I say, you captured the mood so well and yes, the folklore's like that. I'm a malaysian XD That's why the village folks out nails and leaves under the pregnant woman to keep the pontianak away. I love this piece a lot.
