Description Thoughts: Here are two books for a fan-project in support of the excellent, stylized series Tron: Uprising - a series which takes place before Tron: Legacy and is set to tell the story of how Tron descended into becoming the dark and powerful warrior and enforcer, Rinzler.

These books will be sent via the post/mail from fan to fan, and each person can add their own contribution of thoughts or artwork, be it writing, photographs, drawings, or anything which they feel is creatively best! Also included will be a set of posterboard character figures to be optionally used in photography; the whole idea started for this very reason. Once the books are complete, they will be returned to me for final checks and possible repair, they will be digitally archived and shared among fans, and then be sent off to a person of interest, hopefully someone associated with the production of Uprising!

If you wish to participate, don't hesitate to Note me!

Unfortunately Tron: Uprising was meant to have multiple seasons, but it has been beset by mismanagement by Disney, and is only now being given some treatment which might let it ascend to the true, radiant rank it deserves!

Catch the series on Netflix in the USA! It's style is heavy and bold, you won't be disappointed!

Details: A durable non-adhesive book, intended more as a journal. Each one is about 16 cm x 23 cm, 4 cm deep.

Greetings, Mariposa. Thank you for your interest! We welcome any and all fellow fans who wish to participate.

The Uprising Books have been stalled with me for a while - I've been trying to hammer my art skills into shape to better emulate the Uprising style - but they've since been down to Phoenix Comic Con, and Central Canada Comic con, with some work in them from a fan and some artists there!

I'll contact you via a Note and give you more information.

Thank you very much!

Ha, no problem, I love this show and I'd love to contribute in any way to save/promote/keep it circulating around the fandom. ^^ May I just tell you that these books look amazing? ^^

As for the Uprising style, while I am by no means an expert, I've found it helps to (only for practice, not for actual use) trace over a still, just to help get a feel for the proportions of the characters and why certain things were done the way they were.   Maybe that'll help a little....?

Thank you for the compliments on the books. They were made to be simple and effective as possible - both in durability, but also in their references to each character.

Thank you for the drawing suggestion; it's always good to offer advice. I have a slough of reference files, grouped to character, location, or type - and I refer to them quite constantly. I've actually gone through about three sketchbooks just trying to get used to the Uprising style; and I do my best to use every inch of each side of a page.

I'm finally approaching some sort of drawing type I'd call myself 'confident' over, but there's still more than plenty for me to learn. However, the upside is that I can finally start to move past studies into something resembling comics, or other material that I can more readily share with fellow fans. Recall the mention of three sketchbooks: there's more than enough notes and ideas all built up in there to keep me busy for a good, long while.

I've been sure to keep in touch with the rest of the TRON fan community, and although I can be rather shy, I find it a great group. If you use Twitter at all, I could easily direct you to a few good names who form the core of the active fans there.

Either way, I try to keep to my sketching/study as much as I can. Alas, any project and effort is bound to move at the speed of free time... Which isn't always fast.

Thanks again, Mariposa! It's good to hear from a fellow fan.

Greetings again, Kai-ni. Thank you for your continued interest.

It has been a long while, yes - and in that time, there has been one thing blocking my path, and that is my lack of skill with rendering the major characters of Uprising by hand, true-to-form. Of course, in that time, the process has become much more smooth and closer to a proper stylization.

The project still stands, and I'd love to see it in the fans' hands. Already they have been, the Book of Beck to two Cons, and the Book of Tron to another, and to Boxleitner himself.

All fan-work is welcome in the books, be one a writer, painter, sketching/drawing artist, or photographer... I've simply made the books. The true wonder will be seeing them full of fans' contributions, providing they make it through the long journey.

I find that the trouble is that people, given a choice of 'add whatever you like, any support you have for anything Tron!' most will draw a blank - so, I am hoping to make some of my own short additions to the book, before they go; a kind of creative index, if need be. Certainly I'd encourage fellow fans to be as expressive and creative as they like.

Until then, I have to hunker down and try to refine my skills, and for a realist/non-illustrator like me, that's a steep learning curve.

Take care, Kai-ni. I'm glad for any thoughts you have to share.

Oh wow Bruce saw the Tron book? That's so cool. <3 I'm glad you're still working on them, they're lovely and of course I'd love to see what gets put into them!

Quite the same.

If the Uprising Books are returned and completed intact, I intend to catalog all of their contents, and share them with fans at large... Or just share their scanned/photographed contents as they travel along.  The actual books themselves would - I hope! - go to any of the developers or artists associated with Tron: Uprising.
