Description
Getting into Victor's design (again, another one of Jack Kirby's creations), I knew that I wanted to go back to the way he looked in Fantastic Four #5, his first appearance in 1962. In that issue we see a Doctor Doom that showed less armor, mostly his gauntlets and his iconic mask (the latter I didn't want to change too much). There was also another aspect I would have liked to try but because of the format I'm using this event. I can't and that is color. Even though inside the Issue Doom's colors are the same as the ones we know him for, green for the cloth and metal grey for the armor, in the cover he has Just green. Two shades in fact, light green for the metal parts and dark green for the tunic. If I ever color this illustration or make a new one of my design for Doom, that's what I would like to try.

In the case of the gauntlets and metal sleeve, I wanted to make it look less medieval and more technological, like what the cover of the issue conveys to me. The mask however is a slightly altered version of his classic one, because in this battle between trying new. things and keeping it classic, that almost mythical metal mask won by far against any thing I could come up with.

Don't know about you but I would love to see Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as our favorite villa nous dictator one day.
