Description
Basic Info
Name: Phaidra
Nicknames: Phae
Age: 1033
Physical Age: 16
Height: 5 ft
Hair: Dark Brown
Eyes: Soft Green
Faction:
Disciples - Phae is not really a fighter. She does her best to stay out of conflict, though sometimes her ability could be useful in such circumstances. She doesn’t mind the order that Basileus has given the city, and instead treasures the peace that she has found.
Occupation:
Perfumer - She creates lotions, perfumes, and all other smelly things that one would find in an upscale boutique in the modern day, outside world. She grows some of her own herbs and things in her small home plot, but mostly trades or buys from other herbalists and vendors for the rest of her supplies.
Herbalist - Phae also has a side job of creating herbal remedies, and more specialized teas that also help with healing or just feeling good. She doesn’t create anything close to drugs, but calming brews and ‘love juice’ are just some of the things she offers. *Love juice is just an aphrodisiac.
Sybal
Sybal Form:
Light of Hades - Phae changes dramatically from Day to Night. She is still humanoid, and her facial and body structure is quite similar, but that’s really where the similarity ends. Phae grows a bit more curvy, her hair growing long past her knees if it fell straight. However, it floats around her shoulders and head almost with a mind of it’s own, flickering with light like a candle. Her hair, skin, and the whites of her eyes change to a deep inky black color. The pupil itself, as well as the tips of her hair, and the inside her ears all glow softly with a faint but calming purple. On each palm is a key hole that glows faintly and the left one is blue, the right green. Another keyhole sits on her chest above her heart. Its glow is a bright red. Two keys appear, floating around her head as well. She grows wolf ears, a tail, and more animalistic, digitigrade legs and feet, and stands seven feet tall.
Sybal Power:
The Fickle Flame - Phae is able to use her power to entice people towards her, or to chase them away. When she uses her powers, her hair, eyes, and hands glow much brighter than normal, making her look like living flame. Her ability only works on a limited amount of people, roughly five at a time but ten at the very most if she really wants to tire herself out, and she can only tempt or repel, never both at once. She is also able to float slightly, though never more than a foot off the ground. - Tempt - When she is going to draw people to her, Phae places a the blue key in the small lock on her left hand. Once the key is turned, her whole body changes color from purple to a bright neon blue. Her hair moves a bit lazily, like a mostly steady flame. She can be very specific on who she draws, or can just randomly pull people to her. This pull influences the emotions of the people she is pulling, making them more curious, more in a daze than just looking pretty. It’s a very light version of enthrallment, where if they really wanted to, they could resist. She can’t take a person over completely, they’ll always have the ability, however slight, to break free.
- Repulse - Like Tempt, Phae uses a lock but the green key to activate her abilities. However, this one is based on her right hand and she changes to an almost sickly green color where she glows. She can be specific with this power too. Again, like Tempt, she enhances emotions with this form of the ability. But instead of curiosity or enthrallment, it’s fear and disgust. As before, they have the means to break free, however.
Docile or Feral:
Docile - Phae always has her mind about her, often clear headed and focused on what she’s doing during the night. However, it’s also the time for her to explore, have fun, and cuddle some other Sybals.
Personality:
+ Clear Headed, Organized, Hard Worker, Compassionate
+/- Religious, Curious, Trusting, Lonely
- Sensitive, Quiet, Passive, Short Temper
Phae loves her work, and does her best at it, often working long into the night or on commissions to make people happy. She works hard, and always gives her work 100% of herself, or more. Her home and work is organized to a very specific level, and she gets a bit upset if something is out of place for any reason. She is quite clear headed, since she needs to be for her products. One mistake could be very bad in one part of her job, and she’s quick with knowing how things are going in her live as well as her work, and does her best to help those around her who aren’t quite as open as she might be. Her compassion is one of her best traits, and she adores the people she's grown close to. If she hadn't gone into the field she had, she could pass as a psychologist after a bit of training. She is very serious with her religion, going so far as to having shrines to those gods she still believes in even after all this time. While she doesn’t know why Hades spared her and sent her here, she believes even Hekate had a hand in it to move her to Sybal Heim during a large crossroad in her life. The gods have their hands in everything, no matter where their followers might be. She is very curious about people, and will often sit and people watch during breaks at her store since she is located in the Upper Market. She loves learning new things from others, no matter how little or grand. It could be a type of dance, a different way to sew something, or even new herbs. Because of her curiosity, she’s often quite trusting, more than she probably should be. She takes people at face value and doesn’t think about many consequences. It’s her blind spot, no matter how focused she might be. However, she is quite lonely, even with the connections she has from work.
Phae is quite sensitive to things that can easily change someone’s mood. With her skill set, she is able to do some of that herself, but her feelings can get hurt quickly. She has tried very hard to harden herself, but even after all these years, she’s too open to others. She’s very quiet, often getting lost in her work or people watching without saying anything for a long time. It’s not unusual for her to not talk to others for her whole shift after giving her workers their duties for the day. While she’s always trying to look on the bright side of things, she doesn’t let many things force her to do something if she feels it’s none of her business. While not completely apathetic, it takes a lot for her to get involved or care about something she doesn’t want to stick her nose into. Her anger can sometimes get the best of her, especially since she’s sensitive to many things. She often roars first, then apologizes later.
History:
--This is not common knowledge--
Phae was born during the Greek Dark Ages, in 860 BCE. She lived in the central region of Arcadia and was the daughter of a Hetaria, or prostitute. Her mother was highly educated, and she passed that knowledge down to Phae. Her herblore and practical application of plants and animal parts was just part of Phae’s education, as well as how to please a man or woman. Her life changed when the owner of the brothel that her mother worked at decided that Phae should be part of the brothel as well. He was a cruel man, often hurting the women. However, he wasn’t around often for it to be an issue. In his eyes, she was old enough, and her mother was getting to the point where she should retire. Phae could just take her place, since her mother had already taught her most of what she knew. She was physically taken from her mother and given to the brothel as a slave instead of a free woman, which is what she technically was.
She had grown up with most of the women in the brothel, and they couldn’t stand the way that Phae was being treated. She didn’t know at the time that her mother had been killed when she resisted Phae being taken. The girls managed to smuggle Phae out, but one of the women who often took care of the owner told him their plans. He and his guards were there to catch Phae when she returned home, beating her and showing her what they do to runaways, no matter how unjust her slavery was.
They left her for dead, beaten and bloody. She fell unconscious for a while, but when she came to she was able to just crawl into her home. There, she found the body of her mother, all their things smashed and scattered around the small home. It took another few days for her to be able to get up the strength to move, and she gathered what small tokens of her life she could and left her home and town.
She headed north, into the countryside, bound for the forest where she knew she could survive. Eventually she made it to her destination, but it was just another turn of bad luck. Bandits had taken over the easy ways through the trees, and while she did her best to go around them, a few of the band found her. She ended up running, trying to get away from them. She knew the forest, but it slowly changed from the place she knew to something different. The forest was brighter, livelier, and felt more alive than the woods she knew ever did. She didn’t really care, though, and did her best to get free, and be safe from any and all those who would hunt her.
As she left the trees behind, she was greeted by an odd person she had never seen before, dressed in a way that her people never dressed. She was also healed! Most of her problems from the men were gone.
It took her a while to get used to the new her, the new city, and the new everything, but after she did, she thrived. Besides her change at night and the fact that she had an ability now, the biggest shock to her was the fact that she was no longer in 876 BCE! In fact, she had entered Sybal Heim in 876 CE! Life was much different from the small villages and vast tracks of unclaimed land to what the other Sybals said it was. Though it had been only a moment to her, Phae was able to adapt quickly to her new life. She had always known what she wanted to do, and with the local flora, Phae was able to quickly make a name for herself after getting on her feet with the help of the Minister of Ambrotos at the time. Now, after many, many years at her job, her existence is peaceful, if lonely. She has weathered the time well, and enjoys her home and the city itself. She has all but forgotten her mother, but she has a few trinkets left from that time that still make her smile.
Additional Info:
- Phae has a small shrine in her home dedicated to Hades and Hekate.
- In the unlikely event she dies, Phae carries the fee for her trip across the River Styx in a small bag around her neck at all times.
- Plays the pan pipes and the flute.
- Has a modest three bedroom, two story home with a large rooftop garden and an opulent private bathing chamber. The basement is used for storage and a small workshop.
- Owns a business in the Ambrotos Upper Market. This also means she has a medical and retail license. Her main workshop, when not using her home, is in the basement of the store. Main floor for retail, and second for storage and special clients. She has two employees, one to work with the money and one to help clean and stock items.
- Has three tattoos on her spine. The top one is for Hekate, then the phases of the moon, followed by the symbol for Hades.
- Her keys are able to be stolen, but like any piece of a Sybal, they poof after the sun rises and reappear with her when the sun sets. If her keys ARE stolen, she is unable to cast that specific version of her power until she finds the key, or waits for the next night.
- Phae loves cuddling other animal-like Sybals, mostly because they're cute and fluffy. However, the real reason is because she's quite lonely.
