yeah, he died 2009. Had enlarged organs and holes in his stomach so the vet had to put him down.

thank you, I had a hard time 2009, 2 budgies died. But I got 3 new ones which I still have today. THis year I had to let the vet put down Tiko, and got a new one from the animal shelter. He is lovely and fits in very good into the group with the other 3.

please tell me that your budgie is not solitary living, or will get a partner soon. Keeping them solitary is against their social nature as flock birds.

no we don't have other budgies or intend to get anymore at this time. for several reasons. one being that sky sometimes has his horny momment XD another being that when they tend not to pay atention to u and not bond with u if there are other budgies. plus he is getting old, if we got another bird now, it would only get heartbroken when this one dies.
don't worry, sky never has to worry about being lonely. since I'm always home, he always has me for company and he
s always doing everything with me, even waddling on the keyboards while I'm typing lol XD we r thick as thiefs, and practilly inseprable. I know budgies r vary social birds, thats why I do what I can to make sure he never feels lonely and show how much I love him.

It is indeed not easy to get a partner for an already old budgie, because new young babies will only make the old bird confused. They like it calm and a young bird is full of action usually. But if you really love your budgie, you should try to see the world through his eyes, not only through your eyes. Same counts for your mom. it is true that a lonely budgie easier clings to a human - the human who cares for him, and that he more easily starts to speak human words. But for what price? Because the bird wants to get tame and wants to repeat the words you speak to him? - No, he only does it, because he has no other choice. He has no partner of his own species, which is the same as someone would force you to live in a flock of birds, without other humans to speak to or play with. But would you be happy without other people around? without internet, without your family or friends? Only birds to play with and talk to? Who do not understand your words, and chirp and sing all day?
It is the same sad situation for a lonely budgie (or any other social being on earth, be it a monkey, a dolphin, an elephant, swarmfish, social flockbird or rabbit...). He is forced to connect to his owner and to pass the time with him. But he would be much happier if the owner gave him the choice to connect with his own kind. Because this is his true nature: To live in a flock with other budgies and communicate with them in his own language. Not repeating human words which make no sense to him at all.

mom and I arn't heartless, we do care about him ALOT. and try to makes thing easier and comfortable for him. when and if we ever get budgies after this one, we will try to get two so they arn't lonely. but u got to remember that we don't have alot of money and we got this one for free.
we r good owners, and know how to take care of budgies.

thank u for being understanding. I do take good care of my budgie. I know its hard for him not having any other budgies around to hang out with, so I do what I can to fill that void anyway I can. I do feel very hurt when people think I'm not taking good care of my budgie. thank u for understanding that. I don't take judgementle stuff very well.
we both love animals alot so its understandable that we both want others to be well informed about the animal's needs and their natural lifestyle.
I volenteer at the humane sociaty as a cat socializer, making sure the cats get the love and atention they need as well as help them warm up to people better so they can get adopted. there a some few cats that have had it hard and are very skitish and shy around people, so I help them overcome their issues. though I am able to go once a week cause we have so many volenteers.
by spending time with either the cats at the humane sociaty or my budgie, I learn more and more about them and their behaviors everyday. having an animal, u r always learning something new and better ways to take care of um. it also help u get into the animals head and see things from their perspective, so I'm always learning something from my budgie and the cats at the humane sociaty.

sigh, yeah I get what ur saying. and I do try to look at things from his perspective. do u even know how we got him? we got him from my aunt's mother inlaw, she had found out that she has alergies and can't handle the feathers so she was gonna just open the cage and let him go. not a caring thing to do considering this is not the budgie's natural habbitat. the little guy would have died from starvation or frozen to death or even gotten eaten by a hawk. fortunetly she had told us about what she was going to do and we took him in. he has been very much happier since hes been with us. with her, he was cage bound and didn't get to do alot. so he is lucky. and mom and I treat him and love him like a child, like family. he isn't a pet, he's family. and even though theres a language barrier, we do understand each other sometimes. he gets lots of love and affection, and he seems very happy. sadly we can't go buying another budgie many cause we can't afford it and we have been having money issues. mom and I don't intent to get another budgie for a while after this one. this budgie was an adopt/rescue. so we do everything we can to make this budgie happy and not feel lonely. and like I mentioned before, he does talk to the birds outside, so even with us, he is never totally alone.

I am glad to hear you rescued the little one. That was a very nice thing to do. A friend of mine had found my budgie Kathi (RIP) on the street, too and rescued her. I agree, that they cannot survive alone in the wild. It was a very good thing, you heard about it and took him!

actually u don't need to worry, I am home all day so he is not alone. and when I leave for a while, I put music on for him. he also likes chatting with the birds outside hehe XD once in a while I'll see birds sitting on my window sill looking in as if to say "is can sky come over and and chat? :3" lol ^^
my mom says that if u get more then on budgie, they tend to not talk or they will pay atention to each other and not bond with u. my budgie and I r thick as thiefs, he follows me everywere and does everything with me, even snuggles with me while I'm napping XD

I find it even more sad, that some petshops apparently sell their birds already clipped. So the new owner could get the impression, that it is "normal" and okay to clip them, and then go on with clipping them. That should really be forbidden.

I'm actually quite surprised..
I got/rescued a little turtle [I'm not 100% on what species it even is.. it looks like a box turtle, but it's pure.. brown/dark gray~ or it could be a baby tortis? no clue] and Captain sat on his back -softly- pecking at it xD Herbie is my new super ninja turtle

I'm scared one day one of the Mountain lions or coyotes are going to come up and try snagging one of my pets X__x
my dogs aren't the smartest - they'd be like OH SOMEONE NEW TO PLAY WITH and get eaten xD

*die*
I went to petsmart, and they had my "frosty blue" and "lutino" budgie D:
they were so tempting Dx
but dad said I couldn't have them because it was an hour drive back home and we had to go to a few stores on the way back - we don't have any air conditioners on our truck so they would have over heated :c it pissed me off so much, the two colors I was looking for the most, at the same place, and I couldn't have them. D:
