This is a slightly belated birthday present for Leona Preston. Although, I have owed her art for quite some time now. :/

In truth, this isn't the first time I have tried to draw her characters, but it is the first time I've done anything half-way decent with them. Personally, I was much happier with the line art on this one, when I started to go over it with the shades they started to loose their charm and appeal... and frankly, their identity--these don't quite look like the two I set out to draw (Lance and Yolos), but that's alright.

The medieval attire is basically improv; I looked at some references (mostly from the wonderful *tracyjb ), but I wouldn't have half a clue as to what should look like what without them, so any artisitc liberties I took are probably inacurate and I know I should have done better on this on the whole.

Details are there, but slightly hard to see because of the lower resolution. I could have gotten a lot more detailed with this too, I'm sure, but I was really in a hurry to get this done, and took a lot longer than I initially anticipated.

I'd say this probably took me anywhere from 16-20 hours over a span of three days. For materials I used .3 mechanical pencil (B lead), .5 mechanical pencil (HB lead), and .9 mechanical pencil (B2 lead) for the darkest areas. I used a lot of eraser and blenders to get that painterly effect in certain areas. And, this was all put down on some nice, smooth Bristol Board.

My sentiments: This seems pretty empty without a background, but that'd of just killed me, plus I wanted to get this done within a reasonable timeframe. I suck hardcore at expressions, but managed to wrestle these into existence, same goes with the hands... However, I'm willing to admit that both turned out decent enough here. What are they laughing at?
