Description Basic overview + Lore:

The Sentinel Service Rifle, Model-90 is a high powered rifle calibered in .30-06 and developed by the England based "Thompson and Son's Arms" in 2135, after the declassification and adoption of the Sentinel Corps into the Federation of European Peoples Armed forces (soon to be Federation of Mankind). The nickname 'Epsilon' refers to the mathematical term, meaning small. If total copies were compared to something like the Marine M-37 Retaliator then this would ring true.

For a refresher, the Sentinels prior to 2135 worked in utmost secrecy, so as to not raise suspicion during operations they were restricted to looking and gearing up like hunters. As expected, compound bows and AR-15s were absolutely useless against skinwalkers and the like.

So, when they went public in 2135 the first thing they did with their blank check from the Federation was to start competitions for not only equipment but weapons too.

The checklist for the weapon was as listed below:

-A reasonably high caliber

-No heavier than 5 kgs

-Have an effective range exceeding 500 meters

-Capable of Automatic/semiautomatic fire

-Plenty of room for attachments

Thompson and Son's looked at this challenge with glee and began to develop their submission. What they did was rebuilt the receiver and barrel of the defunct company Heckler and Koch's G36, rechambering to .30-06 and built on from there.

The aesthetic that the weapon took on is what is known as "Old World Blues," where pre 2040 designs are used as the basis for something new.

In order to compensate for the power of the recoil during firing, the weapon was given a heavy stock and had the barrel cover built with steel layered over with a heat resistant polymer. It just barely made the weight requirement.

The weapon performed wonderfully in trials, hitting targets from ranges of up to 950 meters if an experienced rifleman was pulling the trigger. The loading mechanism worked smoothly, and could be disassembled in under a minute and thirty seconds.

In between the polymer and steel of the barrel cover were multiple magnets that bulged outwards. Attachments could be added to these magnets and were quicker to place and remove than traditional rail mounted ones.

With the pros outweighing the cons, the Sentinel adopted this as their Service Rifle, and have yet to replace it for over 190 years. The Sentinels have fallen victim to the same complacency the rest of the armed forces have, but time will tell if they take the initiative and attempt to develop new weapons.

Variants:

1: The "Base" rifle is the most prevalent model of the M-90 and along with the Marksman configuration are the only two types in service. This model can be used as either an Assault Rifle or LMG if given a drum magazine. Capable of either automatic or semiautomatic fire. Takes 30 round magazines.

Rate of Fire: 700 rounds per minute

Length: 40 in. (101.6 cm)

Barrel Length: 20 in. (50.8 cm)

Weight, Unloaded: 11 lbs (4.99 kgs)

Weight, Loaded (30 rounds): ~12 lbs (5.4 kgs)

Effective Range: 750 meters

2: The Marksman Modification was introduced in 2137 after the Sentinels requested a version with longer range. The barrel has been lengthened with a muzzle break added to the front. A sight that can be switched to thermal vision comes standard, but can be switched out if the user wishes.

Rate of Fire: Can vary depending on the shooter, but 700 rpm max due to the maximum cyclic rate.

Length: 50 in. (127 cm)

Barrel Length: 30 in. (76.2 cm)

Weight, Unloaded: 13 lbs (5.8 kgs)

Weight, Loaded (30 rounds): ~14lbs (6.35 kgs)

Effective range: 1,100 meters

3: This rifle is a reconstruction of a Base model that was found in a forest in rural Montana in 2201. The weapon was heavily rusted and dented. The magnetic attachment carrier on the barrel had a bayonet connected to it and along the barrel cover was etched "I WELCOME DEATH."

The Sentinel who carried this rifle was never found nor identified, however his weapon is now on display in the Museum of Anomalies in Tampa Bay, Florida.

4: This is a Civilian model of the M-90, and as a result has been neutered on order of the Sentinel Corps.

For starters the top rail was removed to prevent the attachment of scopes, leaving the user with iron sights. Next the barrel was shortened, and the muzzle was modified to prevent the use of suppressors or flash hiders. The magazine can only hold 15 rounds and as a final "fuck you" to the consumer the weapon can only fire in semiautomatic mode.

Rare of Fire: See Marksman Modification.

Length: 35 in. (88.9 cm)

Barrel Length: 15 in. (38.1 cm)

Weight (Unloaded): 9 lbs (4 kgs)

Weight (Loaded): 9.37 lbs (4.25 kgs)
