Description
This is the largest painting I have ever attempted at 24" x 36". Soft pastel on Ampersand pastelboard.

First experience with Ampersand pastelboard. and I must say, I am loving it! The clay surface holds way more layers than regular paper, yet, is infinitely easier on my fingers than sanded papers.

Attempting a painting this size was a bit intimidating and did, at times, get a bit tiring. But in the end, I quite enjoyed not having to watch every split-millimetre in working the fine detail with those thick, unruly, expressive, luscious sticks of colour that is pastel.

This painting took almost a year of work, with an almost 7-month break inbetween for a summer-long trip overseas, health challenges and other, more mundane concerns.

Although I have discovered several very useful functions on my camera allowing me to capture images that are MUCH closer to what I actually see, photographing paintings still remains a challenge.
As usual, I am faced with a need to improve my photography skills.
