Class 743 locomotive parked in the Liberec train station. In total 10 Class 743 locomotives were produced back in year 1987. The locomotive was created as modification of Class 742 for use on the Tanvald cog railway on Liberec-Harrachov line where it replaced older Austrian made cog locomotives. Class 743 is not a cog locomotive, but instead it relies on its high adhesion. One of the major difference from Class 742 is installation of electro-dynamic brake.

Although Class 743 locomotives were produced for use on a specific railway line, in past two decades due to decrease of trains to haul in the Liberec region some of the locomotives were moved to different areas of Czech Republic.
