This is really quite nice - I first stared at it for several minutes. At first I thought it was fairly simple, then I noticed things going over and under... or were they? I'm pretty sure everything is one plane and the over and under is a very nice illusion. Am I close?
I need to get my bodhran and spend some time with it - never got past lesson three or so.
Our whole family (well, not so much my dad) embroidered for a while I can see the charm - we don't do so many simple, repetitive tasks that our not too distant ancestors would have been needing just about everyone to do such things. Maybe.

Well - the "lessons" were on the DVD that came with the bodhran (I find I can remember how to pronounce it, or how to spell it, but seem unable to remember both - so far).
Anyway - it was reasonably instructive.
But - don't get me started on cultural appropriation. Gah!
Well - maybe just a little. Maybe he was right, there was some part of it you couldn't hear or recognize - maybe like the sounds that only Eskimo children learn - past a certain age you just can't discern the sounds.
But... that can't mean you can take it from there and do something with it.
My good friend Dan - friends since we were 10 years old - bought it for me when he was in in Ireland - with the hopes that he on flute, our friend John on piano and me on some sort of guitar usually, could incorporate it in some interesting way. Authentic - nope.
I say - so what? There are frame drums all around the world - it seems likely that they influenced each other over the ages.
Ok - that's enough for now - I didn't get worked up or nothin.
I say maybe get yourself a small cup of water, dig out the bodhran and do what ya feel.
But as for your spline-a-palooza up there - I really like it. I'd love to see it lit at a sharp angle, but that would be cheating. Maybe.
Hey - I think I know what day it is... Well - not quite - here - yet. But where you are, nearer the central nexus of all the world's time - it's your birthday!!! (I'm reasonably sure there's some number system where "13" is you're age - but no need to dwell on such base things.)

Sorry phraught, "cultural appropriation" - I'm 110% with you on that one! The planet itself dictates "culture".
This sandstone/limestone (low compressive strength) area is full squat Romanesque buildings, whereas neighbouring granite based Castille is full of towering Gothic constructions. Historically, Basques relatively peaceful living in their sandstone palaces, unlike the hubristic Castillians constantly warring in their impenetrable granite castles....
Consequently I had to dump the instruments when I got to Vitoria >>> too high/dry! The chanter's reed seized up and the drum skin overtightened...
You had me thinking lonfg and hard about which number system has 13 as 57 ... It's so f&%@ obvious it hurts "Base 54" 13 = 54+3

Interesting - so do you think their attitudes are driven by the architecture at all? People raised in (or near) castles... interesting.
Too bad about having to dump the instruments - but yeah, gotta keep those drum heads from getting too dry - and as an oboe player, I know about those reeds - well, except now, Légère makes synthetic reeds that are quite good - and very consistent. What's this world coming to?
Sorry about the brain hurt - I'd originally written it as "a number base" rather than "a number system" but my base pun didn't work as well - and we gotta support our puns.
Happy birthday Pete - hope it's been good so far and continues to get better!

And how do you explain this?
Angelina Jordan...I Put A Spell On You
Doesn't seem like it should be possible.

Just watched another video of her doing a Billie Holiday song on "Norway's got talent" when she was 7.... So I think the answer is:
"An extremely pushy mother and an electric dog collar"
Poor little girl.... We've robbed her of her childhood.

Hard to say - but yeah , could be. But I suppose she must have wanted to do it a bit on her own - but you do raise a good point.
