There's nothing more heartwarming than to see Mademoiselle Zhou in a bar in the middle of total strangers. She is a perfect muse: Easy to talk to, fun to party with, intelligent, and beautiful in a pretty humble way. Most of the time, I can spend a whole evening just twirling around her with my camera, and she barely mind. In this picture, I wanted to accentuate the gentleness of her eyes and focus on her exotic traits. Beautiful !

I expect that the art of the photographer is to become invisble and draw one's attention to the subject. Well here's to a job well done. Truly stunning

This one is very beautiful ! She seems to be lost in thought, unaware of what is happening around her. I like the fact that the light illuminates only one part of her face. And yes she is beautiful !

Very sweet image. It is a really lovely model. I really like the composition of this image it works very well. I love that you chose black and white it fits the image.
I would work on the light a little more though, while I like the sidelight, it is too bright at some points on her nose, and the eyes are not light, which really is important on most portraits. You could have avoided this by using reflectors to at least have the sparkle in the eye.
I would have also cropped it a little different, so the hand is not on the image, because it is a little disturbing overall.

Hope this helps.

I don't crop my image, but.. I'm glad you pointed out about the hand. Also, it's a good tip for her eyes, but I rarely do studio shoot(for the moment), so it is a little bit hard to bring reflectors(even homemade lol) and a lot of lightning equipment with me.

Thank you very much for taken the time to give me such a useful comments

Well reflectors are actually really light weight and easy to carry, i have used them outside a lot too, or on location and its not really a problem.
Most welcome

There's something intense about this girl, as if she's in turmoil under her cool, rock chick surface.

You know what I like best about your gallery.. all your models don't have simple "let's have sex" faces. It's like a collection of portraits (I love portraits by the way) that show how women have deep thoughts and different personalities besides being beautiful. I really like the doubtful yet confident expression on this model's face. I would have liked to see more detail on the light side of her face so I think it might be a little overexposed.

They're just women I know personally or wish to know more of. I rather choose the cool chicks instead of the brainless hotties. I like the stories that goes with all those girls.

I think the lighting and b/w is good for this shot. It gives off a good sense of mysterious and an exotic feel. Maybe a bit of cropping at the bottom would be an idea, as the little bit of hand just seems to detract from the focus slightly.

I love studio portraits
Firstly, I like how you've made it black and white, it compliments the lighting nicely, which is done very nicely also.
The model is very natural i front of the camera it seems, I like looking at a portrait and wondering what they're thinking!
Would have been nice to see a bit of more editing to it though, just to enhance it a bit more!

good job

It's not a studio portrait. It was taken in a bar. Also I'm not a fan of cropping and editing, but I get your point.

Thanks for taking the time to write a comment : )

Aw what a nice shot. I always loved black and white shot. It seems like the lack of clor makes it easier for me to focus on the subject matter. she is beautiful btw.

The most striking thing about this photo is that you'll go back to it in 10-20 years time and everything you've described in your artist's comments will flood back and it will be both comforting and melancholic.
