Despite of being one of the most important characters in Warriors book series, Firestar is often criticized for being, supposedly, a flat, boring and undeveloped character with no flaws. For me it is the fact that Firestar is still being glorified even though he is dead. This is one of the big reasons that I hate Tallstar x Jake, because I don’t mind Tallstar being gay (although I shipped him and Morningflower from the moment I first read Fire and Ice and it fits Gorsepaw), but really? Firestar’s DAD? It also totally takes away Tallstar appreciating Firestar for being a brave young, former kittypet warrior.
Everything seems to fall back to Firestar...and I hate that. He was okay, but he was not great. He meddled in the affairs of the other Clans a bit too much, he was a complete jerk to Brambleclaw in Midnight (and later his own daughter has the gall to be distrustful...I never hated Squirrelflight as much as I did in Twilight)...
Let the guy be dead and move on, focus on some other cats.

Nowadays Jake gets Mapleshade's treatment - is getting forcefully included in everything. However, I like him in Tallstar's Revenge, since he is treated there as a character, not just a link to Firestar.

Kate and Cherith are bad with that, they also cram poor pairings down our throats too. I think almost everyone is sick and tired of Tigerheart and Dovewing.

Oh, God. I wish Dovewing would just settle for either Bubblestripe or Tigerheart. I don't even care which one she'll chooses. I just want for this torture to end.

I loved Foxleap, he was one of my favorite characters. For a long time I hoped he would get paired with either Dovewing or Ivypool. Sadly, he got killed off in order to develop Dovewing a little and to show the horror of the war.
However, I cannot agree with you. In my opinion, it is Dovewing who deserves much better. Bubblestripe is immature and Tigerheart is untrustworthy. Neither of them seems to be compatible with Dovewing.

To be honest, I don’t see why Vicky go ‘screw it’ and just let him stay with Rosepetal. It was implied in one book and uncle/niece did not stop another pairing if I do recall (which so happens to be the parents of Foxleap himself!). But I did like Foxleap and Dovewing’s interaction in Sign of the Moon, when they took some time to just goof off and be silly young cats (to Squirrelflight’s exasperation).
In the end his death was unnecessary, just another thing to hurt a cat who had already lost it all. Icecloud I felt was fridged on purpose just so Cinderheart could be stuck to Lionblaze...even now those two still have no proper chemistry and I refuse to ship them.
I think Bumblestripe is not too bad, but he was made that way simply to cause more drama to Dovewing’s already sucky love life. Kind of like my original thought for Ashfur was that he was actually a great guy who was purposely target and forcefully manipulated by the authors to be a villain (and yet still get into heaven).
In the end I think Dovewing needs to solve her own problems before she goes running around having kits. She was weak in development and still doesn’t impress me.

I like how Dovewing was developed but I agree with you that she isn't quite enough mature yet to be a mother... However, I have yet to read Tigerheart's Shadow. Maybe this book will sell me on the idea?

From what I have heard of countless others...it is just as bad as all the others. I am even more furious at how Rowanstar is treated...what did that poor creature due to get such abuse? First there was inconsistency on gender, then Needletail and the other brats causing drama, and then what happens in that book...

Oh yeah, I heard he was stripped of his leader name, just like Brokentail. Seeing how the latter was responsible for children dying while the former was merely a weak leader... yeah, not fair.
