Description I got a few composite stones that are green and purple fluorite and pyrite, it wasn't a mix I'd seen before.Β The soft less polished texture and cool tones remind me of sea glass. The overall piece makes me think of a mermaid's garden, light greens and purple shadows and coils that might be sea grass and might be tentacles

Wow, now that's one gorgeous piece of rock, and your mounting for it is just right.

How did the different stones come together? Was it naturally like that or some technique you used?

The two do sometimes naturally 'grow' together, but not like this. I didn't make it, I just did the wrapping. I suspect high pressure and epoxy were involved in making the stones stay together, but no one who makes any of the composite stones is willing to tell anyone how they do it. Which I guess makes sense for business, but is really annoying for the artists who like to know more about the materials they're working with!

I wonder if someone could replicate the effect with epoxy resin.

Hrm, you mean mix in your own crystals? I'm not sure. There were old paperweights (60s, 70s?) that were resin domes backed with fine chips of mica or abalone. If you've got the supplies you could give it a try. Might be an interesting use for stone chips that aren't drilled well enough to use. I don't have either the experience working with resin or cabbing to tell you.
