Description Well, I finally got around to colouring it and inking the rest of it, so here it is. I lost the sideburns, which I'm fairly happy about. He did look rather Darcy-ish.

Why does he have a pink rose and the Black family motto on his shirt? Well..... I needed some reddish colour, and ended up drawing a rose for no reason at all. That said, I'm quite pleased with it. I figure this is his last clean shirt, because this is definitely a post-running-away-from-home-picture. He just didn't want to go bare-chested (although I wouldn't have minded seeing him shirtless.....)

Well, Sirius is ©JK Rowling

Thank you very much. I had a lot of fun doing a pen portrait for once and I'm very glad you like it, because it was a sort of experiment.
So thank you

Hehe I think I could see the Darcy-ishness of this picture with sideburns. Probably the white loose shirt adds to that, even if it doesn't have a high collar with frills. I would imagine Sirius wearing something darker though.

If I may comment, I think his shoulders are a little narrow even though they have a rounded shape. I think if you would depict him skinny there would have to be more angle. The roundness of his shoulders now suggests he's muscular, but then he's not broad enough. Perhaps his thick neck suggests an older age, which would suggest more mass in the shoulders also.
But I absolutely love the callous look of his skin, he's rough and yet the long waving hair, fluffy too (LOVE the fluff) makes him look playful and young again. His look of perfect innocense is !!!

Wow, thank you for that! I luuurve constructive critisism. I just wish, I could redo the drawing now. Hmm... that's one thing, I love about pencils: you can erase something and try again. That's pretty hard with ink.
As for the shoulders and neck, I was looking at a reference pic, so if he's looking round-shouldered, that's not far from the truth. Of course I can't copy exactly what I see, and I do tend to make people a bit scrawny and skinny. Gotta work on that.

I first draw with pencil and then later ink it out. Often I turn my work backwards against the light to see if it was done alright. And about the reference picture, I trust in reference pictures as well, but it needs some artistic flavor too \o/ so I think people may deviate from them to make it more suitable to what they have in mind. What do you think?

I still love this picture and I think I'll stare at it some more now!

Oh. I guess, I'm just too impatient when I draw... I just don't take time to look at my sketches so much before I ink and colour them.

Well, thanks anyway.
