Description "With love, Svenka"

This is a young assassin and bounty hunter from the planet of Arvena (ar-VEY-nuh). Svenka was born a Weaver -- one that created webs to defend her home colony from intruders -- but she wanted to do something more exciting with her life. Thanks to a hostile invasion on her planet, she would get the opportunity to leave Arvena and start a new life of adventure and excitement. While she did not have a stinger like the Arvenese Soldiers with which to fight, she found plenty of use out of the various weapons stored in the stolen ship, and would become an impressive sharpshooter.

But even with her new adventurous life and weapons, Svenka has not thrown aside her natural Weaver skills. She improved her skills of stealth, and trained her wings and legs to become incredibly fast. This is handy when she senses the life forces of someone approaching so that she can climb up walls and ceilings to remain unseen. More notably, she would use her spinnerets to set traps to either trip or ensnare unsuspecting targets. If a target is to be captured alive, she will swoop in to wrap them up in her webbing -- whose chemical makeup has been compared to a potent anesthetic. When the target has to be killed, there are razor-sharp blades at the backs of her six insect-like limbs that can make short work of them in close combat.

Abilities and weaponry aside, she does have a slight air of inexperience. While Svenka has been very successful with her new career, she will sometimes underestimate her tasks and/or targets. She is not very strong, and sometimes makes poor choices that can lead her into a lot of trouble. She attempts to maintain a calm, level-headed attitude at all times, but when things quickly turn for the worse she is likely to panic, and her fear may get the better of her. She's still trying to work on that.

Man... I could get lost in those lovely eyes of hers. Β

Svenka is a unique flavor of cute. :3

Svenka! What a cool character (Of course I still remember the previous incident in which Svenka decided to wrap up Chaz GELF. Anaesthetic webs are an interesting idea for sure!)

Many thanks! I took a lot of properties from various bugs to come up with Svenka's character and design.

I can't imagine it was easy for Chaz to escape that webbing. X3

Given it's Chaz, he probably wasn't able to escape unassisted. (Though, provided he'd been let out at some point, he'd likely pay a visit again out of sheer curiosity)

Haha, I'm sure Svenka was probably just toying with him. Odds are she was the one who would've let him out.

Yeah, I figured as much, haha. XD I asked this over on FA but, how strong are Svenka's webs, in terms of adhesive properties, tensile strength, etc? You mentioned she'd set traps to trip or ensnare unwary targets, so I got kinda curious. That, and I'm curious as to the type of anaesthetic properties the web exhibits - is it more of a numbing anaesthetic or more of a drowsiness deal?

The adhesive properties are much like rubber cement, though naturally there's no smell to give it away. The anesthetic is potent enough to fully numb the muscles in the span of five minutes, though struggling seems to accelerate the process. It could make a person drowsy after a while, but that takes much longer than the numbing properties (I'd guess about 30 minutes). AndΒ to top it all off, it is especially strong -- it was able to hold this guy Β fairly easily even before the anesthetic effects began to kick in, and he's able to lift a car with ease.

That said, it can obviously be cut with very sharp non-stick edges like the blades on her insect limbs, and it can be burned, meaning this guy Β could be harder to keep in one place. It does, however, present opportunities to threaten people by acting as a fuse, which can make for some terrifying situations for some people. She is fairly smart as well as swift, so her traps could start off as simple as a tripwire or spring noose, and as soon as the victim loses footing, she swoops in and all around to ensnare them in a web or strap them hard to the ground.

Considering she's not very strong herself, she has to use these tactics in addition to her weapons to gain some advantage.

Oh sweet, that's really interesting! Though it may not be as effective, could the substance be used as a fully floor-based trap? Say for instance she leaves a few strands laying out on the ground, disguised perhaps as strands of cable in a server room, or even laying out on the ground if she happens to know (or have manipulated) someone into paying more attention to the ceiling than the floor - would the strands be sticky enough to snag a victim's feet if they were stepped on?

For that matter, are the strands of a fixed width, or can they be made thicker or thinner depending on the situation?

It can be possible to pull off. Like you say, laying the strands out across the ground as just an adhesive is not the most effective method, but it is doable. And yes, they can still be strong enough to get a victim pretty well stuck.

As for the thickness of the strands, they are typically made to be fairly thin so as not to be as visible to the naked eye. Making them thicker can strengthen the properties of anesthetic, adhesiveness, etc., but they're a lot more obvious and thus easier to avoid. But it does depend on the tactics at hand, so it can still get the job done.

In any case though. Maybe it's the assassin thing, but I can imagine she has something like a Russian accent.

It's probably also the name. X3

I honestly haven't decided what sort of accent Svenka would have, but a Russian-esque accent isn't out of the question. Then again, that's the same sort of accent I have designated to the Byrans. (It's fun to imitate Choram's habits of speaking.)

Really? I would have assumed that the Byrans would have more of a primitive English accent. You know, kinda like "Tarzan love Jane".

Their speech patterns are pretty solid. It's just that their vocabulary is limited. (For example, they typically wouldn't know the worlds "vocabulary" or "limited." Or "example," for that matter.) Plus they have the odd quirk of never using contractions in their sentences.

"GRAPHITE! I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW, BUT I AM NOT HAPPY."

Like Lt. Commander Data from Star Trek TNG. (Yes I did just make that reference.)

But I can see why you would choose Russian for that.
